A very complicated answer is needed for this, but I don't have time; I'm going to work (to plant trees and shrubs - I plant about 200/day with the help of my crews).


You're probably aware of the idea of carbon sequestration (holding CO2 in the wood of the trees). That CO2 comes from the atmosphere where it would otherwise be a greenhouse gas.

You probably also know of how land patterns (forested vs. bare vs. grass land and so on) effect at least micro-climates.

What I want to point out is that afforestation is not always the only or most appropriate tool but it is one option, nonetheless.
