The new Tahoe and the Suburban is real nice and has technology that shuts down part of the engine at time to save gas. It looks good too.

Try a 7-passenger Ford Explorer. It's been the #1 selling vehicle in it's class for years and years
If you buy a pre-owned one, you'll save tons of cash.
If you live in the Midwest where E85 [ethanol fuel] is readily available, you might even seek out a flex-fuel Explorer
You can tell if it is by looking at the vin#
If the 8th character of the vin# is a K then it is a flex-fuel vehicle.
Same rule applies for a Mercury Mountaineer

Expedition or Excursion are bigger but are not available with a v6
In fact 'New' Excursions aren't available at all

Explorer's v6 is over 200 hp

I have to recommend the Nissan Pathfinder LE. I love mine, I have had it about a month. It is fully loaded, has leather seats and my son loves the entertainment system. Lots of room, and room for 7. It gets around 23 mpg on the freeway and 18-19 mpg in town.

Nissan Pathfinder or Honda Pilot. If that's not big enough, check out the Toyota Sequoia.
