I'm looking for a campsite that is either free or pretty close to it. I am a single mother of two and love taking my children camping but can't find any good campsites without having to pay a lot for it.

It depends on where you live in Oregon and how far you want to travel. Here is a link to camping sites in Oregon.

If you scroll down the page there are many campsites listed by location managed either by the Oregon State Park system, the US Forest Service or the Bureau of Land Management. You should find something close by that fits your needs!

Shellburg Falls Campground in the Santiam State Forest is completely free and has an awesome waterfall you can hike to. You can call 503-859-2151 (Santiam State Forest Office) for driving directions to the campground. It is roughly located 20 miles east of Salem off of HWY 22.
