Sounds like the problem isn't that easy to fix; he should see a doctor, particularly a sleep specialist.

Get one of those old fashioned two belled alarm clocks. You know the ones that sound like in at the firehouse during a 4 alarm fire. Like grandma used to have next to her bed. Put it out of arms reach so that he has to get up to turn it off. And you might wanna leave the room cuz when it goes off it will irritate you.

There may be a trigger sound of some sort that wakes him up. Who knows what his is. Keep trying.
My alarm goes off at 5am. I hit the snooze at least 3 times. He sleeps like the dead. I turn on the lights. He keeps snoring. Take a shower (which is right next to the bedroom.) He just snores louder. I call his name. Rub his feet. Nothing. But if I knock on the door frame, he sits right up. I don't know why a knock wakes him up, but I've never told him that's what he responds to. I'm afraid if he knew what the sound was, he'd train himself to tune it out.
Good Luck.

There is a simple solution to this hard habit to gain...
you need a loud alarm clock for one. and you need to put it across the room...
make sure it is an annoying alarm, so that when it is blasting for 5-10 minutes he will have to get up and turn it off....
hopefully he will stay up though!
if not be there at the door with some cold water to splash on him!! lol
got to run
thanks for the question

My brother used to sleep like that . My dad got him an alarm clock that had an intermittent ring. Since there wasn't a constant ringing that he could shut out, it would wake him up. I don't know if they still make them, but they might.
My other suggestion is that you stop waking him up. If he has to be to work or school, make it HIS responsibility to get his butt out of bed. You can't babysit him forever, and as his girlfriend, you shouldn't have to now. Good Luck!

Sleep is not bad, but over sleeping is bad for health.
One sud sleep not more than 5 - 6 hrs a day..
At what time he sleeps in the night. Ask him to take a very light dinner, and 2 hours after dinner go to sleep. When stomach is empty and light no one can sleep undisturbed.
Try this, or else shoot me a mail, i hav other ideas also..

when the alarm clock goes off sat squirting him with a water bottle( it will keep the bed from getting wet or cuasing him pain) obviously he wont like this but its human nature to not do things that cuase discomfort over time after doing this a bunch he will begin waking up when the alarm goes off to avoid water squirting.. it does really work.

When the alarm clock goes off, pick it up and hit him in the head with it.
