I have an 18month old daughter and she loves to watch Seaseme Street, LALA and PO and tinky winky all those little shows and she is already trying to count, and say he abc's, I think those shows are good to watch with your kids because of all the things they teach, she loves the colors and the voices. Maybe he just need something to get him going.

Could be.
Did he start babbling?
Does he use nonverbal language to explain his needs, for example point at things?
Does he appear to hear sounds?
If you answer any of the above questions with a no, or if he has any other delays, you need to see your doctor immediately. No words can be accepted till the age of 3 years, but do not wait that long to find out, my advice is check with your doctor to make sure everything is normal.

Have his hearing checked. My 2-year old daughter is "special" and has some other problems. She passed early hearing screenings, so we thought her ears were OK, but we kept having doubts. A visit to the audiologist revealed she was missing midrange sounds. She now has hearing aids for both ears. She recognizes words and can repeat a few.

I don't think so. It seems I started to speak only when I was 2 and a half years old. I talk normally now.

My kids talked at different ages. I wouldn't worry too much, if he is not talking by 3 then that may be a problem. He may be like my daughter, she didn't say a word until 2 1/2, I was so excited when she started talking, now we can't get her to be quiet.

Different children take different times to speak. My son started speaking at #!!!
I guess having them in a playgroup with other kids makes a very positive difference.

Best to go to a pediatrician, but--does he have an interpreter? Older siblings sometimes give children an incentive to let others talk for them. Also, there are many stories of people who just 'didn't see a need' to talk until they were ten or even older.

You might want to get his hearing tested just incase. However it could be nothing at all, my brother hardly spoke until he was 3. Children develop differently, so just give him time.
