I've had this since I can remember - I get this almost physical sinking feeling inside me at random intervals; it makes me feel the most miserable and wretched I've ever felt. It doesn't feel like normal depression, so I can't work out what it is. It goes away after a few minutes. I often find it is triggered by hunger or being in water, but it can happen at any time, really. Does anybody else get anything that feels like this?

Yes, I have,,,,,get your blood sugar and thyroid both checked by your Dr. Could be low blood sugar and the dip causes it, or an overactive thyroid (similar situation).

Sounds a bit like a different manifestation of an anxiety attack -- not in the clinical sense though. Especially if it goes away and is sporadic, probably not something to seriously worry about.

No medical experience here, just an opinion

it almost sounds like you have diabetes, and often a diabetic has equilibrium problems, which are noticed on boats, water, heights, etc.
Pleae get a blood check for this to rule it out (or not)
