I received the map with a code on it, but suspect that code to be the same for everybody. With that code i filled in the registration and gone through the race. But there seems to be no login and password, right? So anybody with the link to the final quest could just jump in without solving the many puzzles?

Even if they could - Volvo has better things to do, than watch those sites and eliminate "cheating" participants. That is building fantastic cars. And there is *no* way of tracking the path you came from (just normal links, no cookies). But for sure they will watch and see, how the game and thus their marketing is going on.

BTW, who said that "cheating" is forbidden? We're not sitting in a US classroom... I see it just as a smart way of team work. And it's only a (very good) game

Hey, pirates cheat... whats the big deal. Plus, I think most of us are just having fun. Also, I talked with someone at Volvo... they are not bothering to follow up on sites like this, and they dont track to make sure you followed the right path (there is no login and password, its just bookmark the site and go back to it later...) anyone can jump in at any point. However, if that person were to win, that would be at a disadvantage...as there are still other puzzles to decipher on the last island to find the actual volvo.

Wrong! Your computer will tell the Volvo monitors whether you have followed the correct paths. They also check on sites like this and others to see if answers are being cut and pasted directly into the computer. They are not stupid.
I am not expecting to be on the shortlist of some 9 million treasure hunters but I HAVE done all the clues honestly admittedly with some help and have arrived at Port Royal final clue in hgand waiting for 7pm UK time tomoorow.
BTW all those red codes on the Volvo Garage maps are different - another way for the volvo boffins to see who is logging in.

My thoughts exactly. Some of the clues are RIDICULOUSLY hard to get. All that effort for what when anyone can link to it? A car that's what. I will win it though. Sorry everyone. Har Har har. That car be mine already me heartys. Give up now. Avast. Turn back. Tis foolish to try.

Yes, but the link will only get you to the final page - you've still got to have the nouse to figure out what to do when you get there!

People who are mad about "cheating" should be mad at those people giving the answers, not those asking. How is it our fault if someone gives us an answer when it would be smarter to keep it to themselves?
