I have cheated. Alcohol was involved.

I had met someone, gone home for what I thought was a one-night stand, but it happened again through mutual design. Then the following weekend I met and had sex with someone else. I hadn't made any commitment to the first person, hadn't any anticipation that we would enter into a relationship. But, as life would have it, we did keep seeing each other and subsequently entered into a monogomous relationship, which I had betrayed just two weeks in, prior to making any commitment.

A year later, when asked a question about monogomy, I told the truth about the one-night stand, and was promptly dumped. Do I regret the one-night stand? You bet I do. Do I regret being honest with the person I was in love with? No I don't.

Why did I cheat? I guess that at the time it happened, I still thought of myself as single as I hadn't made any commitment, hadn't any inkling that i was going to settle into a relationship and sometimes when something's right in front of you and you're looking through beer goggles you act in an irresponsible way motivated by a combination of lust and desire for instant gratification.

I was a very early twenty-something when I cheated and I guess I was still into a hedonistic, frequent-clubbing, no-responsibilities place in my life at that time. I learnt a lot from the experience, and I regret that I was so stupid as to jeopardise what otherwise had the potential to have become a lifelong relationship.

More importantly however, I also regret the fact that I hurt a person who I cared deeply about through my own selfishly-motivated actions.

I am ashamed to say I cheated on my wife of 8 years with what i thought was the love of my life. The old saying of the "grass is greener on the other side" could not have been further from the truth I ended up leaving my wife and living with this dragon who could burn toast with her breath for about 3 months and it was miserable as sin. I left her and my wife because of my own selfish attitude and consequently have ended up on my own but I can watch football whenever I want and don't have to watch Coronation Farm and Emmerdale Street every night but I do miss my wife .

I cheated on one boyfriend when I was about 16 and felt so guilty that I never did or would do it again. I think that if you're with someone you should be committed to that person, and if you're not happy you should tell them. Cheating never solves any problems, it just creates more.

I used to think that if I did the right things in my relationships that it would come back full circle. My life lessons have not been so kind. I am now of the idea that you have to make yourself happy or no one will do it for you. So, I am sorry to say, yes.
