I know the answer to this. First of all, there is NOTHING that says that you need to convert to Catholicism. You are still permitted to get married in a Catholic church even though you are not a Catholic.

The Catholic party can easily receive formal approval from the Catholic Church to marry a person who is not a member of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church has an official policy of honoring the conscience of the non-Catholic party and respecting his/her religion, in other words, there will be no pressure placed on the non-Catholic to "convert" to the Catholic tradition.

Please talk to a deacon or priest of your fiance's parish. In order to get married, they only ask that you help your spouse raise your children as Catholics.

Your marriage in a Catholic church will be a valid marriage even though you are a non-Catholic.

Good luck!

I strongly believe that you should have a talk with your fiance about this before marrying. You should not lie about this or she will never trust you in marriage. Baptism is practice of sprinkling water, pouring water over head or complete immersion of water...depending on which church you go to. It is believed to forgive sins and make you a child of God...this is taught in the Bible to do as an outward sign of belief and love.

It sounds like your fiance is Catholic.

If this is true then you do not have to join the Catholic Church or be baptized to marry her in a Catholic Church. You may however have to get permission from the bishop.

With love in Christ.

Let your fiance to know, that you want to worship your own beliefs. Some people are married or getting married, that go to their own churches. (baptising) mean you are reborn again in spirit. As in you leave your soul the non clean one. And enter into a clean godly one.

so well said. Does your g/f truly believe in the religion or is it just a cultural thing. Thry to come to some understanding as to how your lives should go. Its easier now.
