The M1 will get you swiftly out of Leicester to the North or to the South. Either is a good idea.....

depends what sort of things sir might be after!?!
any trip that coincides with diwali or the caribbean carnival or the comedy festival will be worth something, other times there's plenty of good pubs and clubs, lots of live music - especially @ the charlotte. loads of walking/cycling routes in, around, thru city. big parks with regular events on. out of town green-belt/conservation, eg watermead and aylestone meadows. large and varied ethnic communities with all their lovely food.
now am sounding like a tourism official so shut up...just come, plenty going on!
oh yes and swithland woods and bradgate park just 20 mins out of leicester.
