An Italian accent sounds like a sing-song and more rhythmic than a native English accent. They often add vowels to the ends of words. It's not difficult to understand, but it can sound almost like the other person is singing to you...

I'm American but have lived in Italy a long time and teach English at a university here. Italians tend to have fairly strong accents, probably due to all the vowels in Italian, but of course it depends on their level of English and their ability. What an unusual question!

They have Italian accents, and as for understanding them, it all depends on how long they've been practicing the English language.

Hello..I will answer you from my vantage point of view Dear, because I speak Italian fluently and I used to live in different Italian provinces, so I encountered a bunch of varied accents. I can assure you that some of them are so distant from the formal Italian that it's not probable to grasp anything. I will give you an example, one of the toughest accets is Calabrese( those of the people living in Calabria),when I was there I hardly understood what they want me to tell and they keep giggling and only one member of the family speaks Italian..Imagine how weirdly different they are!

Not a problem whatsoever.. It's with the Brits really, that you don't have a clue what they are talking about when speaking in another language..(ever heard a brit trying to order tea in spain? It's a blast!!!)

I'm Italian, it's not weird to me. If they speak broken English and slip into Italian, I can understand it and reply, but-a yes-a, I know-a whatta you mean, bella.

It depends. It can be strong, or very light. Also, some people practically don't have any...

Vowels are more pronouced, I are often said EE, E are said very open always (like in opEn, not like in Everything). A also have a pure sound... For the consonants, Northern Italian typically have different accents than Southerners - in the north they are often skipped, in the south they are very strong - like in the Mafia Movies imitation accent...

Sexy? not particular if too strong, very irritating.

I think it just sounds like different dialects of 'pizza' and 'lasagna' and 'spaghetti' just repeated over and over again.
