At ten years old, it's unlikely that your daughter requires a bra unless she is overweight or has reached puberty very early.

I didn't start wearing a bra until I was thirteen. Before then I wore a vest if it was cold because I was a child, not an adolescent. I see a bra as an adult garment for adolescents and adult women to wear. It seems strange to want your daughter to wear adult clothes when she is still really a young child.

Bras can take some getting used to. As I sit here and write to you, I can feel the underwires of my bra digging in under my breasts. I can feel it because i'm thinking about it. That's what it feels like all the time to a girl who has never worn one before. Bras restrict lung capacity and can weaken the pectoral muscle which supports the breast so it's best not to start wearing one too young.

Finally, the only reason for a small breasted girl, like myself to wear a bra is social. If I don't wear one, I get some stares which I find intimidating. Luckily for your daughter, she is not yet conscious of ignorant people's perceptions and opinions. Let her be a child a little longer. She will be an adult for most of her life.

Maybe she is uncomfortable with the fact that she is growing into something she's not sure about. She refuses to wear a bra because this means that she has to accept the change that is happening. Try finding a sports type bra that has her favorite color or favorite character on it. Compliment her when she wears her bra. Tell her how grown up she looks. Give her the confidence she needs to feel secure in this new stage she is experiencing. She'll probably start wearing a bra without hassel if she feels confident in wearing one.

Maybe because the other girls at school don't wear one and she feels like an she shouldn't wear one either(if that is the case tell her there's no way the other girls will know she is or isn't wearing a bra), or if she does need to wear one or you would like her to wear them, then take her bra shopping show her the different kinds and colors. She can try them on until she finds one she likes. They have sports bras and wireless one if she thinks there uncomfortable. Or tell her if she tries to wear one for at least a wk or two. And it's still uncomfortable or she doesn't like it then you'll push it off for another month or so. There's really cute mary-kate and ashley olsen bras, ask her if she like the olsen twins maybe she'll like to wear what they make.

Well, it depends on how old she is. There could be plenty of reasons why she won't wear one.

If it's training bras, I don't see any point in making someone wear one.
It could be because of the media, no body on t.v. wears bras.
It could be because of other girls at school, if nobody else wears them, she's not going to want to either. But if it's the boys who are causing the problem, she should have to wear one.
It could also be because they are very uncomfortable. Take her shopping for bras and see if she can find one she finds comfortable.

Good luck in determining the reason.

You should tell her that if she doesn't wear bras now, that her boobs will sag when she's older. That's never attractive.

How old is she?
Is she 7 or 8?
If she is, well its pretty obvious why she hates to wear one.
If your daughter is in the adolescent age or even older, well I think she might be suffering to some kind of disorder. she might have experienced a trauma when she was younger.

Maybe she thinks that she is too young to wear one. I used to be like that when I was in grade school but eventually, I learned to live with it because I know that I have to. I know your daughter will realize that she needs that in the near future.

but the best solution is ask her why she refuses to wear the garment. Maybe she has a preconceived notion about wearing bras... (",)

Because she is 10, not many other girls probably have bras. She is probaby feeling pressure at school and maybe is getting teased. Get her some tank tops with built in support. You can find them at Old Navy or Target, or virtually anywhere. she can wear them under her clothes and it won't look or feel like a bra. This could help cut down on her growing-up anxiety and get the other girls off her back.

wow, there's a lot of crappy answers on here. and men shouldn't really have an opinion on this should they? (father's excepted i suppose)

anyhow, i can remember the first girl in our class to wear a bra and she was teased relentlessly. no one in our class wanted to wear anything that even looked like a bra for a while after that lol.

i suggest talking to your daughter and find out why she doesn't want to (assuming you haven't done so already)

then take her to a store (lasenza girl, if you have it in the states is a great idea) and allow her to browse. she may see one that she likes. if not, try buying her a tank top with a shelf bra in it. she can wear it under her t-shirt and no one will know, but it will give her the support and coverage that she needs.

best of luck :o)

I am an adult and do not like to wear them because of the way they make me fell all tight around the chest and restricted. Then again I do not really have to wear one because my breasts do not sag. These could be the same reasons why your daughter does not want to wear one. If you think she really does need one, getting her a properly fitted with a nice comfortable bra will be the answer.

She is going by potential of the replace of existence....it ought to take her slightly time. i ought to characterize you're attempting an undershirt, like a tank, that has a outfitted in bra and/or a activities bra, something which will be slightly extra delicate for her to commence with. That way she wont sense all grown up. I develop in third grade and that i didnt favor to placed on a bra reason i assumed that ppl ought to understand i became wearing one and can make relaxing of me. obviously that didnt understand and that i became by no potential made relaxing of. yet i began out with recreation bras.
