I sincerely think that it might go a long way to doing that...but it seems so ingrained for weak people to have to believe in something..in some reason for their existence that I don't know if this will ever happen.

If there are no gods, aren't we standing on our own two feet already? People would solve the world's problems if they knew how--regardless of religious belief. Leaving a problem "in God's hands" seems like a way of accepting that one cannot personally change everything, rather than an indicator that one hasn't given the problem careful consideration.

The problems that we have are all human nature problems, not religious. Look at atheistic communist Russia. That should have been paradise according to this thinking, but it was anything but.
First of all we will always have gods..always. If you don't believe in an outside god its only because you believe in yourself of god -all wise and all knowing. When dictators get into power they start to believe that they are god and lose their mind by being abusive and killing their own people. Celebrities are gods to many people. Your television can even be your god.
And as far as I know we arent sitting back not doing anything and hoping that God does it for us. Most good people do work to help solve the worlds problems, though none of them will ever be truely solved due to human nature. You cant stop greed, or power chasing.

If we cease believing in, worshipping, and serving God we will punish us. He has already given us the way to solve the worlds problems. The only problem is those people who ask questions like this refuse to accept the teaching of peace and harmony found throught religious teachings. The focus of religion is the betterment of mankind. without religion there is no reason for people to be good. Religion isn't the world's problem it's the lack thereof that is the problem.

Okay, so you don't believe in God, and your question is really your way of saying that you want everyone else to stop believing in God too, correct?
So you are an atheist and you want everyone else to become atheists.
Of course, since 99.9999999999999999% of the universe has not been explored, you cannot prove that there is no God, not even to yourself.
And since your mind contains less than 1% of all universal knowledge, you are not even certain, at least based on fact and knowledge, that there is no God, because it is possible, even though you don’t BELIEVE it, that God could exist somewhere in the other 99 plus percent of universal knowledge that you lack.
So your atheism is only a belief, based on faith, yet you want everyone else to share your faith, correct?
And since every human at one time or another asks the question, "who am I, where did I come from?", your answer to them would be the answer every atheist must give: “You are a random grouping of chemicals that came together by accident with no guiding force and no purpose. You then evolved into what you are now, a more complicated wad of random chemicals with no guiding force and no purpose. Since you evolved by means of natural selection, i.e. the strong devours the weak, and since there is no higher being to account to, you have the duty to continue your evolution by devouring the weak. And since there is no afterlife, you have to live as good as you can, meaning take everything you can get for yourself, at the expense of the weak, because once you’re dead, you’re dead baby.”
So basically, you want all the billions of inhabitants of this world to have a selfish, self-centered worldview based on faith in a belief which is based on ignorance?
And this would be good for humanity because … ???

It's worth a try. Even if there is a God, he's not supposed to solve our problems, is he? That would be cheating -- we're supposed to have free will, so if God interferes in one thing, he might as well fix everything right now. No, it's better for us to stand on our own feet and TRY to solve problems of war, intolerance, poverty, environment. Even if God exists, could he blame us for trying to do our best on our own, without any help from "above"? What kind of God would be so mean as to do that? I think you are right.

Hmmm... Yes in a way - there will be more ideas generated on unsolved issues and people will be more adventurous and they would always try to search for answers. What the concept of GOD has done is stopped people from thinking out of the box and made them duds.

If we eliminated religion, and the whole god myth, most of our problems would automatically be solved.
