I believe it was more or less the same as today only not such a large proportion of the population. The seventies were the start of the package holidays with freddy lakers offers, apart from those most holidays were spent in England, yugoslavia was a popular destination that has now been broken up into several states and to a lesser extent cruising was popular followed by ferry bus tours around europe, hope it helps.

Down here in the southern hemisphere, Australia, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Fiji, Tahiti and New Caledonia were popular in the 70's (and still are today).

I was in Panama, great tan! great mountain side, nice weather; in the city is more hotter but wow, very cheap good things, latest electronic equipment! And very good prices!
Beautiful beach in the Caribbean side. Spectacular island in the Pacific shore!...There is so much things to see...
Best time...summer!!!(There summer)

i went to puerto rico in the early 70s then in 79 i went to spain , italy , austria, germany , france and england
