Were you eating chips? I got attacked last year in Wales whilst eating chips.

It's because of the t-shirt, it makes you look like a pirate. In the '70s, the government trained all seagulls to attack anyone with "pirate characteristics", this incudes eye patches, hooks, skull & crossbones flags, parrots on shoulders, beards (red, black or blue), stripy t-shirts and saying "Arrrrrr....".
Nowadays it's second nature for seagulls to attack people they think are pirates. It may seem silly and even unfair on people like you (who look like pirates), but when was the last time you saw a pirate in the UK?

Because they are very vicious birds and will swoop and try attack you if they think you are in their territory.
There are 2 seagulls living on the roofs in a London street, called Temple, and they often get reported for swooping at passers by.
They are all nuts - Seagulls.

Chances are that you got too close to something it felt it had to protect.
Chances are slim to none that it was attacking you because of your shirt.

it was most likley eather defending its young in a nearby nest or was after food and thaught you had some.

If you weren't carrying food its likely that they were defending their nest and young.
