I am from India. I want to buy a digital camera and i have a choice of 2 models. one is olympus and the other nikon.
both are 6 mega pixel cameras and both have 10x optical zoom. even the price is almost similar. nikon coolpix s4 has option of recording video at 15 fps, where as olympus sp 500 has 30 fps. i know u wud recomend olympus here. but nikon looks beautiful and olympus is bulky. is 15 fps fine? or video looks jerky??? which camera should i prefer????

hi... i donno your name.. but...

what i feel is olympus is better..
becuase i am selling more then 9 -13 cameras per day..
usually i give demo..
but what i feel is..

performace wise.. olympus.. is better..

even if you compare the price.. i think its cheaper tooo

the problem in nikon .. is when you zoom it on 10x .. it makes image blur unless you use tripod .. or your hand should be steady...

whereas olympus has maunal adjustment on a dial .. so you can make adjustement directly ..
okay

but.. for this you 've to learn... for what condition you 've to use which setting.

well same like nikon.. its also has all those modes.. which is available in nikon...

though nikon brand wise is very famous.. but what i really feel ..

is not the same thing..

its output after pricing is not same .. like its SLR..

so.. friend..

its just my opinion..

try to find more differences... then only go for this camera also..
but if you are buying olympus only because of frame rate
then its useless..

becoz normally when we take video with still camera .. then we don't care about frame rates and all

.... so.. keep it mind that you are buying because of camera's output..

take care.. hope my reply will help you

It really comes down to what you prefer, Nikon are alot bigger, but Olympus have been around for an awfully long time as well .

Either one, your getting a good camera.

I recommend you to buy Fujifilm S9500 (9 mega pixels) at around USD600. I am a photographer, and this is the best choice for both amateur and semi-professional guys.

Here are some in depth reviews for the specific models you mentioned. They disagree on the Olympus and it's interesting to read their conclusions!
