Try to be in the moment. Our wishes seem to be about our escaping our past and by acting on or fixing your needs rather than just wishing you are taking charge instead of hoping that some outside force will make your wishes come true. If it helps try and remember that life is over REALLY quick and that regret or kissing the pasts' butt just makes us all victims. Each morning is truly a fresh start so start slowly and fix one tiny thing per day. After a month you'll see a huge difference.

You can stop wishing you life away by learning to appreciate life in the moment. Learning how to be mindful has made me happy and appreciate the small things in life. If you are always looking for to the future as a source of happiness you can never enjoy the present.
You also need to be positive and think deeply aboutthe things you do that give you happiness at that time (in the present) and think " I am really enjoying this...(wahatever you are doing)"
I recommend books by Thich Nhat Hanh as a reference.
Good luck

Have you tried a short course of psychotherapy? It may help to uncover a small incident you have forgotten which is getting in the way of what you want to do. Then you may know instinctively what goals you want to pursue and lead a more purposeful life. Please ignore the insulting answers on this page. I find it very annoying when people genuinely ask for help and they get insults. After all, to ask the question is the first step to feeling better, half the battle won! Good luck!

You can stop thinking that way first by expecting less, be happy amidst troubled life and faith in your God. Seems hard to do, but take a little step forward, and you'll never know how far you've gone in your journey through life.

Wishes are necessary for life.if you have no wish you have no life. But wishes should match your ability and capacity.Start with small wishes and do efforts to achieve them. You will gradually you will get encouragement and aspire for bigger wishes.Be positive. If Henry Ford could build a business empire with wish alone ,you can do better.Have confidence and try.The world is yours.Good luck!

Try to focus on each day at a time, even if every day is the same. We all have lessons to learn in this life, look at the present situation and think about what you can learn from it.
