No, not because of the act itself. There is no sin that can't be forgiven, except the blatant rejection of Christ as your Savior. While suicide is a terrible thing, it is not unforgivable.

Note: I see that there are many responses that indicate a person would "automatically" go to hell for this sin. I strongly disagree with that. We are not saved by our actions. We are saved by grace through faith. Is God's grace nullified when we sin? No. While repentance is very important, it is NOT a means of obtaining God's grace. We do not "earn" forgiveness via our repentance. I'm sure that many, many Christians will die with some sin they never had a chance to repent of...that does not nullify the grace of God.

All that being said, life is a gift from God! We should use the days that He has given us wisely.

I would argue that Hell is here on earth and that after we die our energy takes another form. as to suicide in general, all suicides do is not grow older. As bad as their lives are, they never get any better through death. We live in the land of the second chance (and 3rd. 4th. and 5th.) so to check out is to waste miracles that Do happen but ONLY if you are ALIVE. When I was 20 I took a fatal dose of medication and was in a coma for 3 days. I then decided that something had saved me. I got sober, and now 20 years later I have a really good life. I think often of those moments I would have missed and trust me, the good outweighs the bad by a mile. The last thing i will tell you is that ALL of THIS gets easier over time and people, places, and things come much sharper into focus making life just a tiny bit easier.

I would say that no, not automatically. About 70 years before Christ, a group of Jewish people who rebelled against the godless romans held up in the fortress of Masada in jerusalem. The romans eventually caught up to them. Instead of allowing themselves to fall to the romans in an orgy of death, rape and torture, as was the Romans ways, they drew "straws" of sorts. The 10 people with the "short straw" killed all the men women and children. They then drew again to see who would kill nine of the ten left. He then would have to kill himself.

This was an act of mass suicide. the people were willing. They did not want to give the Romans their bloody triumph.

I do not believe in certain, extreme circumstances that a person would go to Hell. However, then the New covanent with god was not in contract. Christ had not been born yet. The old laws of God applied here. Now a days, if you are saved, through the knowledge and admission of Jesus as Christ and saviour, then you go to Heaven. If you have this knowledge, and have this faith, you would have to be hard pressed ot commit suicide for selfish gratification. Which just because of sadness, selfish is the act. I know 'cause I've attempted it. Luckily failed. If I had done so, to Hell I would have gone.

There is never a clear cut easy answer to such things...

No. They have to sit around and wait for the day of judgement. If you're a catholic, then they'll say they're going to hell, but you know what ... catholics have been lying to people for years and loving all the money they get from it. Truth is ... Jesus died for your sins ... ALL SINS ... and if suicide is a sin, then it's just that ... A SIN. Make up your own mind .. don't let a silly church like the Catholic church influence you in any way. The true temple of worship is held within you ... your mind, body, and soul.

You have no right to kill yourself. You are not brought here on this earth by any application of yours, but for some purpose, how you decide the purpose is solved. Let the nature play its role and you play yours. If you get interfere in it you must be punished. There is no HELL as such but you'll bring back to same condition again in another life cos you have to complete the circle of life. God bless you.

Catholics belive that, but ingeneral, other religions may or may not.. a lot of ppl who think they are dying for a cause belive they will have the greatest seat in heaven... I dont belive there are many in h ell. I belive you have to be truly evil to go to hell, and I dont think suicide is pure evil... it is 'a final solution to a temporary problem'

I spent some time reading up on near death experiences. The only negative ones were from those who had attempted suicide if that gives you any clues.

No, they may end what feels like an insurmountable pain. But they often leave hell for their families and friends in their wake.
