Many Christians think they are just sh!t-hot...
meanwhile in fact they are vain, arrogant, historically misinformed and intellectually dishonest...they will twist anything to suit themselves and even if it requires fantastic lies and deceit it is no obstacle to them...they have a very high opinion of themselves and it's one that doesn't match what they are in reality.

The USA's first two permanent settlements were commercial operations - Roanoke, which was settled in 1587 (but didn't survive for more than 3 years) and Jamestown in 1607 (which survived until 1676, when it was destroyed by riots.)

Plymouth, which was founded by Puritans in 1620 (boy, was the original Plymouth UK a party city the night those guys left) is the USA's oldest surviving continuous settlement, true, but the area around Jamestown had several smaller towns springing up all the time - so while the town itself perished, the colony lived on.

By an odd coincidence, the place the Puritans originally landed, Provincetown, now has the largest gay and lesbian community per head in the USA, ahead of San Francisco. Odd how things work.

USA was not founded by any religious group - it was found by those who went against the church - after they discovered that the earth was round (against the church) others who didn't care for the church went on to prove it.

Catholicism was there for some time - the Christians or born against came in to the scene very late - they are somewhat those who wanted to eat the cake and keep the cake. (Wanted the religion with a different approach)

Because, quite simply, the country was founded on Christian principles and beliefs. That's not to say that all of the founding fathers were "evangelicals", but many of them were. Even those who did not have an active faith in Christ (like Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin) believed in Christian principles as being the bedrock of society.

Because, essentially, it WAS founded by Christians. Those of the founding fathers that weren't born again Christians still had a Christian ethos and believed the Bible should be taught and obeyed by both private citizens and government.

The writings of the founding fathers (including Washington, Madison, and Franklin) explicitly prove this.

Why do you think most of the buildings in Washington (federal buildings) have Bible verses carved in them? Why does the Liberty Bell in Philly have a Bible verse carved in it? (it was made that way).

Why did the Congress pass a law that required and used public money (tax money) to print Bibles?? Sure sounds to me like they believed in Christianity.

well, most of the early settlers who came here (not Native Americans) were English or Germans, seeking religious freedom.

And most of the Founding Fathers - who wrote and signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were Christian. that does not mean that the Founding Fathers believed everything that we hear they believed.

Because there are historical facts to prove it. Was everyone a Christian who came to America? I don't believe that. However, I strongly believe, and history proves that, Christians traveled to the shores of America so they could practice their faith without threat of punishment.

Christ's influence is still upon our nation. Having faith in Him was the most life changing event in my life. I pray you study our country's history to learn firsthand about the faith of our founding fathers. Then take time to reflect on Christ's own message as recorded in the book of John, one of the books located in the Bible.
