My friend's kitty, has been throwing up a lot, he's only 2 years, he's lost a lot of weight too. My friend used to live in my building, now about 4months ago, he moved into a house, the kitty went from always being inside, to know being out all the time. I love that cat, I don't have my owm, so he gets all the love I want to give to a kitty, I would be so heartbroken if anything happened to him, do you all think he's ok, is puking normal, is he maybe having a hard time adjusting to his new home, please help, I would never want to lose him.
thank you all for your answers, God Bless:)

First of all, see a vet. He may have some physical problem that needs dealing with. If he gets the vet's all clear, check around the garden (if you have one). He may be eating poisonous plants, and throwing up as a way of getting rid of the toxins. He may also just be eating grass, this is to help his digestion, he will throw up after eating it. It's a normal thing, so don't worry if you see him eating grass. I'd also suggest doing some research on local plants that are poisonous to cats, and surveying your garden for them, and then removing them.
Is he getting thinner? he may have worms or be eating some small creatures like lizards, or something like that.
He may be having a reaction to the food that he's being fed, some cats have an intolerance to lactose, the sugar found in milk. Try changing his milk to a non lactose milk product (expensive I know, but worth it in the short term to find out) for a while and see what happens. If he stops the throwing up, just avoid feeding him milk. Also try testing different brands of cat foods on him, if this does nothing, maybe it's just that sometimes cats get upset tummies, just like humans. They usually recover quickly.
He may have furrballs also, in which case his throwing up is normal. If the vomiting *still* keeps up, then give him good old fashioned love and cuddles. This is all I can think of for now!
I hope all this helps and I hope the little one recovers soon!

It sounds like a hairball problem. Whatever cat food he is on get the same brand but with hairball control. This is a specal food formulated to push hairballs through his system and out the other end. If you don't want to change his food get a animal laxative from a vet, they are fairly inexpensive and very effective. The cat should eat it as they are usually fish flavoured. If not spread it on the furry side of his foot and he will be forced to lick it off.. If the cat has stopped eating you need to take it to the vet as this is never a good sign. Good Luck and best wishes to kitty

I agree with xian. GET that cat to a vet. It is not normal, and the weight loss is an indication. Also, it can get dehydrated very quickly from too much throwing up. Not good. It could be indicative of another problem that could be taken care of if you get the cat to a vet right away. You shouldn't wait in this matter. It could be anything, but you have a problem if the cat gets too dehydrated. Pinch its skin and see if it stays stuck that way long enough for you to just watch it go back to normal. If it does, it is dehydrated. If it snaps back immediately, you don't have that problem, but it could be another. Bless you for caring so much. Do everthing you can to get it proper care.

If he's just coughing up hairballs, that's pretty normal for a cat. If he's lost a lot of weight, he might have a chronic illness though. You should bring him to a vet.
Cats that live outside have a lot more health problems and a lower life expectancy than cats who are kept inside. This is another reason you need him to visit a vet--he needs to get a bunch of shots (rabies, etc.) if he's going to be outside a lot.

It's DEFINITELY not normal if its constant, excessive barfing and if he's losing weight. Of course, being an outdoor cat is not at all good; they pick up all kinds of nasty stuff in the outdoors. In fact, I read once that the life expectancy of an outdoor cat is 5 years while that of an indoor cat is around 14. Anyhow, he's probably really sick...take it to the vet ASAP!

I would take him to a vet.
Maybe there is something outside that is making him sick? Pesticides or rat poisons or something of the sort?
My mom's best friend once had a cat get sick because their neighbours had poisons around.
Maybe try to keep him indoors and see if his condition changes.

THE CAT IS SICK.
THE CAT NEEDS A VET. NOW.
This is not just adjustment stress. talk to your friend about taking the cat to the vet. If she/he won't or can't, talk to your parents about your taking the cat to the vet as soon as possible.

No, it's not normal to throw up all the time. Someone needs to take him to the vet, esp. if he's losing weight.
