There's nothing wrong with an apple for dinner. Some people get bloated from apples and end up farting a lot at night. Maybe that's the reason for the suggestion not to eat them late.

An apple is not bad for dinner, as long as it is not your only dinner.
Eating an apple, 20-30 minutes before dinner will make you eat less at dinner, an apple has alot of fiber and water which will fill you up, so you will eat less at dinner time.

Hello dear!
The only reason I can think is that if you could have some great dinner, with a fine friend, in a luxury restaurant by the sea side a glass of aromatic healthy wine, why to stick to one apple?

like everyone else says apples are good for you, but I read somewhere (can't remember where) that apples are better in the mornings to wake you up than coffee

if it's just an apple for dinner... it's probably not enough calories.
(assumming you don't eat as much during the rest of the day).
