Try our sweet potato and carrot recipe, our 7 month old son loves it!

1 sweet potato
1 large carrot

Peel and slice very thin (we use a V-Slicer). Put in a saucepan and just cover with water till it reaches the top of the veggies (won't need much). Let boil until veggies are very very soft. Do not drain water. You can blitz with a hand blender or mash with a hand masher, whatever you fancy. Serve when cooled down a bit. You should have enough for 2 large meals or 4 small ones. Stains like mad, but our son can't get enough of it!

hi i don't know where you live but in the uk you can get some fantastic recipes of your health visitor. I have three children 7 5 and 1 and I weaned them all on home cooked food. At seven months old your babies milk is the most inportant she should be having at least 3x7oz bottles in a day. For breakfast i used babyrice mixed with formula milk and mashed banana or pureed apple. how long have you been given her food i'm working on the basis that you started her at the recommended six months. You need to try her with one veg at a time do this for two days to be sure of no allergies then you can start combining the foods together. I boiled aload of veg cooled it popped it into icecube trays and wrapped them in freezer bags, its so much easier to do one big batch and they last for 3 months. Then when its dinner time you can just pop out a few cubes defrost and heat and hey presto a nutrious meal in minutes! If your baby doesn't suffer with eczema or any other allergies you can start introducing chicken and lamb into her meals stay clear of pork and beef as it quite chewy and can trigger off allergies in under 12 months.
Try these out butternut squash, chicken and carrots
Sweetpotato and brocolli
Don't forget not to introduce eggs, wheat and gluten until she's 12 months oh and fish!
Good luck just keep experimenting babies aren't really fussy anyway and enjoy her!

We are vegetarian and my son used to love lentil puree with a little peanut butter
mashed avocado
mashed banana
carrot and sweet potato (I like this too)
Home made apple sauce
pea and potato mash
creamed cauliflower mixed with your usual baby milk
creamed rice
experiment
as your daughter gets older you can puree what you are having providing there is no salt
the important thing is to let your baby try as many different flavours but not too many sweet ones
enjoy experimenting

Get books by Annabel Karmel. She's quite good with recipes.

My wife prepares a lot our son's meals. His favourite seems to be apple & blueberry. Peel, core and cut up 5-6 apples and simmer them in a pan of water till soft. At the same time, wash and simmer about 100g of blueberries in a pan with little water till they start to break down. Pop the two things in a blender and whizz away. Divide into little pots, leave to cool and you can either serve straight away or pop them in the freezer.

Also try mashing up some ripe bananas and mixing it with baby rice.

Lots of other things to try as your baby gets older. Our son also loves salmon and sweet potato. Basically the same thing - peel and chop the sweet potatoes, boil them till soft. At the same time poach the salmon in some milk (normal cow's milk will do - unless your baby have problems with milk) till cooked. Pop the lot in a blender and whizz away.

A baby at 7 months can eat what we adults eat only make it a little smoother and I do mean everything even meat [minced]
scrambled egg,porridge,wheatbix.
If you make to much meat and vegies for your own dinner blend this down for the baby.

i gave my kids what we had (obviously blended)

they had meat veg etc

i would blend it then freeze it in small portions in an ice cube tray tranferring them to freezer bags once frozen i then had some quick meals for them that could be defrosted an heated in the microwave i just increased the nuimber of 'cubes' i gave them

as they got older i simply stopped blending the food so much to gradually increase the lumpyness of the food

toast is also good as they can use their fingers and start to get used to more solid food also good when they are teething

I know my mum used to just blend up the same things that we were having for dinner and give them to my brother. She used to take things out before she added the seasoning and give him the plain food blended up.
