and I ask?

Because the terms of service require that I ask.

If I insult someone on here do I really have anything against them personally or do I just enjoy shock effect humor?

Who else loves to bring the hammer down on the vulnerable asker?

You've got the guys asking whether girls poop or pee, the teenage girls who can't decide which boy toy they really and truly love forever and forever, the people who can't speak English, etc. etc. etc.

I'm always careful to give a real answer to someone asking about suicide or some legitimate problem, but these other people aren't they just sitting ducks?

YES THEY ARE!!!!

Absolutely Arnold M. That is the best because then you get a good competitive insult fest going.

That is truly the best.

By the way Corinthians dude, go read the story of Christ and Nathanial and see if you don't see that Christ is using a very nuanced kind of sarcasm in that passage to undermine Nathanials pride.

I've discovered that some people set themselves up to be insulted, then get angry when they are. I try to be nice and/or helpful but sometimes I just can't help but respond to a dumbass question with some well earned sarcasm. My father always told me that the only stupid question is the one that's not asked. My father has never checked out Yahoo Answers!

There was a question on the vote column last night on how Americans think that Canadians live in igloos. No offence to Americans....directly.....but I think that some of these reveal how completely isolated/ignorant some people have made themselves.

I hope for their past/present/future children's sake that they are sarcastic.

YES. I agree with you..The questions in here just shows that they are having brain farts with nothing to do by asking inane questions. They deserve a put down.. it's pity that they don't reward us "truth biters" the ten points for saying the obvious. My reward is when they read my little zinger.. I have MISSION IMPOSSIBLE ACCOMPLISHED.

Sarcasm is often a ploy to deflect one's own feelings of inadequacy.

Insults are usually leveled by those who can not articulate in a more viable, profound manner.

I am with you. I answer exactly as you do and feel a ridiculous question deserves the sarcasm I give to it.

You've summed up my own thoughts quite nicely. Thank you for putting it so simply. Unfortunately, those people to whom you refer probably won't read your question, so... Oh well. It won't do them any lasting harm.
