Wisconsin. When a nurse wants to work in another state, she must apply to that state's Board of Licensed ( or Registered)Nursing. Some states have reciprocity - meaning that they accept a certain states license as equal to their own state.
There is a movement on to make all states accepting of an RN license, but it is not in effect as yet. Each state makes their own rules.

You can use a nursing license in any state, but when it comes to a time to renew it, you have to renew it the state you are living. But you can still use a nursing license in any state to work as a nurse.
