My doc..told me not to get the gastric bypass because it would not help that much...do to no thyroid... rather, he is trying to control my uncontrollable levels of thryoid harmones.

*applaudes* from a big girl too!!!

Thankyou so much for asking this question. I'm fed up of people thinking I am lazy too. I have a spine problem and am overweight as well, and people assume I am sitting around all day stuffing chocolate down my throat. Let me tell you...I ain't. I study and also walk many places and I look after people in my family.

I have no idea how this stereotype happened (as with many). But it needs to stop. I like to eat...so what!! Doesn't mean I sit on my backside all day.

*Ahem* sorry but when I start. I find it hard to stop.

If you get gastric bypass surgery, you will lose approximately 75% of your excess weight. This fact indicates that obese people over eat. You may not feel you do but it usually is true. Its possible that your metabolic rate is unusally slow and what is a normal meal for your peers might be excess calories for you. Or you might be too sedentary.

You don't sound lazy, you sound overly defensive.

Edit:
Well applause to you for recognizing it and trying to do something about it. I don't so much think as heavy people being lazy, as I do look at at the big picture.(no pun intended) Whatever the reason it's still unhealthy. You can choose to curse the wind and say "it's not my fault" or you can be proactive and do something about it. What annoys me is the denial that many go through, they don't seem to "get it" until it's too late.

Check out what I have to say on my 7/8/06 blog, you probably won't like it, but ohh, well. http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-UvFIaVI8fqJbgL.2S6rJHw--?cq=1

Good luck to you.

i hear ya... it sucks having people think oh shes fat because she is lazy... i had the problem growing up in my teen years.. i dropped weight by exercising regularly and my parents accused me of purging! i eventually gained weight back to shut them up. now I'm a little chunky and my husband loves it.. he would never date a skinny woman.. he is skinny and very active and i am just as active as he is but now since i am a little older i can't loose a couple lbs. like i want.. but it does not bother me because i know he loves me just the way i am. and i got picked on by everyone for being to skinny now they pick for being to fat! there is no way to win!

heavy people arent considered lazy. jus tbecause they are heavy doesnt mean they just sit around and watch tv all day. they could just have a eating problem and exercise.

You don't have to be lazy to be obese. You need to not workout.
