The birth rate to unwed mothers in the black community is about 75%. If you are a black male, why not get an education or job training first? Once you are financially able, you can marry a woman and have kids? All of these babies are growing up with no fathers around and thier mothers are working three jobs. Thus the kids end up having minimal parental guidance.

wldntulike2know is an idiot. I'm asking blacks because unwed mothers are so prevalent in the black community. It is grossly out of proportion with all other Ameican racial demographics.

While I'm not African American and I don't have an answer to your question, I WILL say that the majority of your responders are out of their element on this one. You're not being judgmental if you're stating a statistical fact (I haven't checked it, but through my own readings and observations in life, I am aware that it is a REAL problem). You're not uneducated just because one black male who answered you has decided to marry his baby's momma. You SHOULD care because it's a real problem in OUR society. Just because it doesn't affect your race directly doesn't mean it shouldn't affect you as a fellow human being. I applaud you for asking the question and presenting a logical solution. I hope that others who read your question will take it seriously.
"Statistics show that black male students are more likely than any other group to flunk tests, be disciplined and be placed in special education classes. Fewer than half graduate. Barely a third go to college." (see 2nd source)
Could this be because they lack the male role models that are so strongly needed to succeed? OF COURSE there are exceptions, but to deny the correlation as being racist is simply refusing to acknowledge the problem.

we are not teaching our young black males anything about responsibilities and the music and tv are not helping they have no role models they need more mentors white and black to show them another way they need help breaking the pattern that is going on also black men are dead beat dads once they break up with the mother then they break it off with the child and go and repeat the same thing again i am a mother of an 11 year old and his father is also a deadbeat dad lucky for me i was able to marry someone who came in and stepped up more women should teach there boys to be stand up men and not drugged up thugs

The majority of fathers take care of their kids regardless of whether they marry the mother of the child or not. Most men who get someone pregnant will either get a job or get a job and go to school to make ends meet.
I had children out of wedlock. My kids father WANTED to marry me and I left him because he cheated on me.
Young people often times do not have the maturity to handle a committed relationship. I know my kids dad did not. I was ready for one and he was not even though he wanted to get married.

I'm white and I think you're an a88hole for asking this question. Why not get educated yourself? Why not say "This question's for WHITES?" or "This question's for HISPANICS?". No matter what the race, the rate of young, unwed women having multiple babies is an issue. Get a clue.

black men getting an education doesnt matter statistics show that most MEN- BLACK OR WHITE OR WHATEVER RACE refuse commitment so whether or not a black man has a great job doesnt mean he'll marry the mother of his child

I know this is a q for AFRICAN AMERICANS...which I'm not but was interested in your question. I agree with you but I also think it's the mothers responsibility to ensure they don't end up in the situation in the first place.
