Honestly, I can understand the point that God has paid for our bodys, and that Jesus lives within each of us, but do you all live like Mother Theresa? Is it just me that drinks, smokes, eats fast foods, has sex, lays around on a Saturday afternoon and does nothing, does anyone else do this, or at least some of this? Who decides where the line is drawn and what is good or bad these days.

BTW....no Jacka**'s please.....1 word answers not required.....go find a better section to play in....

Okay and there's another point...is swearing something that does not project your body as a temple to the Lord?

I'm confused.

P.S. Two word answers like "FREE WILL" are cop-outs, if your are going to play that card, then explain why all the rules to live by according to the bible. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a real jack**s, I just hope that someone might be able to sense my desperation for an answer here.

Thanks.

What each and everyone of us do is between themselves and the Lord. It is not our place to say that this is wrong or I wouldn't do that. Whatever a person feels in their heart is right or wrong is their own beliefs. Again it is between them and the Lord Almighty.

We are supposed to draw the line at anything that keeps our mind off the Lord and anything that harms our bodies. Jesus drank wine, but never became drunk. I smoke and I'm a Christian, but I am trying to quit. I think it's not a good testimony to anyone and it's harmful. As for sex, that's stated in the Bible as for marriage only, so, since I'm no longer married, no sex. I eat fast foods, as do many people in other religions, but I don't pig out on it. On Saturday afternoon, if I have nothing that needs my attention right away, I lay around and relax, read, nap, whatever I wish. Sundays I do no work, except cooking. It's a day of rest. Now, the Sabbath is Sunday by societal rules and the church dogma, but others do their Sabbath on Saturday. As long as one of them is dedicated to the Lord, it doesn't matter which one you choose for your Sabbath day. We all need rest from the messed up world we have and from our responsibilities now and then. Nothing wrong with it. As for Mother Teresa, she did a lot of good things and she's a special role model, but just as there is only one of you, there can never be another her. We can only strive to do right all the time, but we'll never succeed all the time. The line is drawn by the person, for if you/he/she believes wholly in the Bible, you strive to live the life that Jesus would want you to. Free will is a cop-out answer, but God gave us that free will to make the above choices....and it's our own will where to draw the line of how closely we will model our lives to what Jesus wanted us to be. If you wish to know more, let me know. This is about it, though, in a nutshell.

I believe that God wants us to decide for ourselves what our temples deserve. If you think smoking praises you temple then so be it. I dont think that the lines that are set are really clear either. But I think that you should be careful how you act when you drink beer. Sex should not be done unless your married according to Bible. But I'm not living like Mother Theresa and I believe I'm going to get into heaven as long as I do right by God,

Wine is good if done moderately. Smoking kills and make you stink and kills ur finances. Cursing is just crude. The bible says "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks". You can't love God with a potty mouth. Fast foods in moderation because they high in cholesterol and will cause heart failure later. Sex only when married! Laying around on Saturdays is great when you worked all week long. Slothfulness is wrong when you don't support or help others and even yourself with a job!

I will give you a answer, It is a sin to over eat, drink, smoke and other harm full things like tattoo your body. I don't think the lord has anything against sex as long as it is done between a man and woman in a bond of marriage. Look at the LDS people (Mormons) and their commandments. I testify to you that the Mormon church is true. I like you done all those things until two years ago when the lord showed me the truth and sent two missionary's to my door.

I'm not trying to cop out here, but choice does have EVERYTHING to do with. If you would just think about it, your body is the Temple for our Savior, then I think that you shouldn't do anything to your body that you wouldn't do in the Temple. Does that make sense? We all sin and fall short of the Glory of God! That's where Jesus comes in and stands up for us as a buffer between us and Jehovah.

Your answer for all this lies in the verse: Whatever you know to do and do not do, that is sin. And Whatever you know not to do and do that, is sin. Another verse says: Whatever is not from faith is sin.

Even so, we can't expect anyone to be running wild one day and in an instant become like St. Paul. Paul spent his life trying to serve God but had no idea for most of it what God really wanted. He discovered what God wanted only when Jesus met him on the road to arrest Christians to have them tried and killed. His conversion came on top of a lifetime of training to be a rabbi, a Jewish teacher. In today's world it could be compared to being raised by a pastor and going through years of seminary and finally gaining a relationship with God.
Like the other disciples, you are coming from years of non-religious training, and suddenly you are trying to live up to God's design. You need to know that many long time Christians haven't studied to know what God wants of them but assume their understanding of the Christian message is right and good. Without studying for themselves, without seeking that personal relationship with God for themselves, they can have some very warped ideas about God's will.
For you to become more like Jesus should be your ultimate goal but not overnight. God will use your current condition to accomplish His will if you let Him. You can witness to your friends from secular life now while you still have them. But going to church, reading the Bible and trying to apply its teachings to your life will change you. With these changes, old ties will be broken because you will be realizing some of the poor choices secular life encourages while secular friends will go on trusting these politically correct world views, you will learn wisdom only the God can give. Not something to fear, you will create new ties with people who also recognize this wisdom.

Specifically though, I'd recommend against marking your body, smoking, drinking to excess (one glass of wine or a beer per night is actually good for you but if you can't keep that limit then quit altogether) promiscuity, fast food, etc., The more you do for God, the more you are doing for yourself, but don't beat yourself up if you can't accomplish all of this the first week, the first month, the first year, or even the first decade.

If your body is a temple, then you are obligated to satiate its desires, or you are not honoring it as a temple. Beer, smoking, sex, fast food and lazy Saturdays can thus all honor that temple, when done in such a way as to not seriously harm it, unless of course, the temple wants to be harmed or values the beer, smoking, sex, fast food and laziness more than it does it's own health. Only you can judge what the temple demands in that regard.

...I do recommend "sacrificing" the occasional virgin though, just to be safe.

Your body decides what is right and wrong. Fish is very good for you, but my dad is allergic, so he can't eat it. Drinking, smoking and drugs do damage physically, mentally and emotionally to everyone, hence bad. Swearing is under the cursing category. We are not supposed to allow negative, hurtful, or hateful things come out of our mouth, because the Bible says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. One way to change your inner feelings is by changing what comes out of your mouth.

where do you feel comfortable drawing the line. there is no guidebook that i'm aware of.but i know when thinking about the topic guilt is what affects where i draw the line. go to work, have a couple of drinks, relax on saturday.if you have nothing to be ashamed of the way you are running your life.and the things you are choosing to do aren't affecting your everyday life, then just live. P.S. swearing where appropriate O.K. , just not in vain. my opinion.
