I'm moving to Florida in about a year with a few friends. So, those who live in Florida, how is it there? You hate it or love it?

I lived in Destin, Florida for a year. It's located in the panhandle of Florida (northernmost). I loved the city of Destin, it is beautiful, the white sand beaches are beautiful. However, I hated the humidity, overwhelming heat in the summer and was surprised at how cold the winters were there! But mostly I found that the "southern mentality" bothered me. Being from the midwest, I wasn't used to men treating me as "the little woman". I felt like I had stepped back to the 50's. Drove me crazy. Plus they were really racist there, and I found that the racist attitude was prevalent at many of the other areas in Florida, too.

i wasnt born in florida but i have lived here since 1973 ilive in winter park which is right near orlando , i really like it the weather is good sometimes at first it will hot to you and seems like we get a lot of rain but youll get used to it traffic in orlando can be a bit much but youll adjust and there are things to do and places to shop and work housing is expensive so really look before you settle on something , ive also lived in lakeland , winterhaven , bushnell(dont go there) and worked in zephyerhills near tampa which is also a good place .

I went to college in daytona beach....a bore. Jacksonville is nice. Overall, Florida is a nice place. It is almost always sunny and beautiful.
