Well if you just had dental work done you might have gotten a bacterial infection. This is fairly common. I would think you would get it on both sides though. On the back of the neck sounds odd though.. Perhaps more on the side of the neck? That's more where the lymph nodes are that would be swollen most likely. It should go away on its own or you could always go to the doctor to get some antibiotics to speed it up just in case it it caused by bacteria.

If it's viral it's just going to be a pain in the ***... or well neck. It can last a long time and feel real big. And all you can do is just wait it out.

So you're going to be ok. Just get lots of rest. Take some tylenol or advil for the pain. Take something like sudafed(allergy meds) or nyquil if you need help sleeping.

Do you have a fever? I would suggest you call you dentist ASAP in the morning. If you can not get an appointment, go to your local Uri-care or ER. It may be a strep infection and you should not mess around with it. If you do not have any allergies to medication or know you shouldn't take pain ,meds you might want to try taking Tylenol or Motrin. If you tempature is >101.5 degrees and it has ben elevated for more then 24 hours, I strongly suggest a trip to the ER. Most definitely go if you are having any trouble breathing.

I would say this is either some kind of massive allergic reaction, or it's a case of a fungal infection like sarcoptic mange or ringworm. Either way, the farm manager is wise to quarantine this horse- and I wouldn't worry so much about your horse. Keep a close eye on the cut that he has, and if he shows signs of infection, then get your vet out to look at him.

not cancer, relax. You have some sort of an infection. Take advil, apply ice, and tell your parent to take you to the doctor, who will tell you that antibiotics won't help because it is likely viral, meaning, a virus. I'll bet yu have a bit of a temp as well. That's actually your body raising its own temp to kill of the virus likely. But while it is uncomfortable, you will recover.
