im very matured and with my own age group i have no real problems, i am very social, very friendly and my brother is currently going to grade 11 in september and when i hang out with him and his friends i have no problems and i get along easy just like im their own age. They would be around 15 and 16..three years older than I. About the schoolwork....its ok for me not as hard as it is for other kids my age.. It seems that i did worse in school this year because my school work was easier so i fooled around more and i think if i get challenged more it will be better. My teacher recommended that i do not skip a grade since i will miss out on a lot of work and school stuff...... but i think im mentally, emotionally, and physically prepared for grade 9. I also think that i can study this summer and get myself academically prepared for the 9th grade. However some say i should and some say i shoudnt.....i needed u ppl out there to help me on this situation....thanks a lot.

by your grammar, i suggest you DON'T skip a grade. Being able to hang out with your bro's friends doesn't mean anything about your maturity. Enjoy being a kid, stop trying so hard.

I definitely wouldn't do it, if I were you.

You sound a lot like me. After tenth grade, I almost skipped my last two years of high school and went to college early [I had the credits and my teachers recommended it]. After a lot of thought, I decided against it and spent the next two years doing easy school courses at the local college and messing around with my friends, being a high schooler. I couldn't have been happier.

Don't you have friends in your grade that you would miss? I didn't believe people when they said that you lose contact with people you don't see in class everyday, but its true [I was homeschooled for a year and totally lost contact with everyone]. Also, you will be the New Girl in nineth grade, and a weird new girl at that because you skipped a grade. Its not fair, but I'm sure you know that kids make fun of everyone, especially people they are intimidated by. As someone who was smart enough to skip a year of school, you'll surely intimidate them.

You are also, no doubt, used to being one of the 'smart people' in class and having work come relatively easy to you. Are you ready for a change? You will actually have to work, much harder, and will probably be one of the slower poeple in the class - not because you aren't smart but because you will have missed so much work.

That said, there are some advantages to skipping a grade. You may be challenged more, which may make you like school more, and you will get out of school one year sooner. I don't think, however, that the positives outweight the negatives, especially since your teacher recommended you don't skip a grade.

Of course, ultimately its all up to you [and probably your parents]. This is all just my opinon, but I HAVE been there and I hope you will listen to some of the things I said!

Is there any way you could challenge yourself more while staying in your grade? Really, once you get to high school what grade you're in doesn't much matter - you can take honors or harder courses if the teachers think you can handle it. Thus, you only have one year more where what grade you are in actually makes much of a difference. Does your school have a gifted program and, if so, are you in it? Perhaps you could do some special projects through that program. You could also talk to your favorite teachers privately and ask them for some extra credit work that you would find challenging but also enjoy.

Like I said, ultimately its your choice. Good luck and I hope I could help! Just remember, eighth grade is SUCH a cool year [it was one of my favorites in school], do you really want to fast forward through it?

It's your future your investing in when your getting your education. If you feel your prepared to take on The challenged of 9th grade academically, then I say go for it. The quicker you finish high school the quicker you start earning a degree. Now days, you have to have a college education to get any profitable/prosperous future. The younger you start your career , The more years you can invest into your career. The sooner you start college courses, The better. As for your peers, when you go to high school you realize that there are many immature as well as mature teens there, you'll be surprise on the various maturity levels you'll see.
I was promoted to the 9th grade after completing 7th grade, and I can't say I regret it one bit. Truthfully, High School is most people remember able years anyway....

P.S. My daughter was 13 in The 9Th grade as well......and she doesn't regret her decision either. She has friends that are seniors, as well as her old friends in grade school. If it's the whole ceremony thing you feel your sacrificing, don't worry about that either, you have all that and more in high school. Congradulation and Good Luck....

Hi! I had just turned 14 weeks before I entered the 9th grade, and it worked great for me. You're just a teensy bit younger than I was. It's obvious from your post that you're extremely bright. I can tell that you'll do a fantastic job. I can understand that you're a little nervous about it, but once you get started, you'll see that there was nothing to be afraid of. What a cool thing to get to do - skipping a grade! That's something to be totally proud of for the rest of your life. Go for it! I guarantee you have more than enough smarts to kick booty!!! :)

You should do it, colleges will love that you can challenge yourself. I'm going to grade 11 and I skipped a grade, but it was just kindergarten ^_^. I'm advanced (supposed to be 9 grade, in 10th grade, taking 11th grade classes), and I used to hate being bored with easy work. You should definately go for it, you'll do great!

My advice is to not skip school. School is very, very important. I believe strongly in school. Yeah, it's boring, I know. But just stay...its all worth it.

Please take my advice,
