The best dog for a particular person depends on tons of things - where you live, what kind of lifestyle you have, etc. You should look at the www.akc.org for a good starting point. You can look at all the breeds, find out more information about them. For example, think about your space and how big of a dog you can have. Then you can go look, see what kind of dog you like the looks of, and read up about them.
It's important to do research on the dog because a lot of dogs are very different - some need to be brushed all the time, some are going to sleep all day and be lazy, some are going to be very hyperactive. Training a dog helps him/her to be the way you want him to be but some are harder to train or are more prone to barking.
After you get a good list of dogs that will work out in your lifestyle, you can start looking at breeders, or rescue agencies, or even the pound to find the specific dog that you click with. Good luck finding one!

wow alot depends on this like a few things here
location, size of yard, or no yard, how much time you will have, if you have kids, neighbors kids and dogs, what you want a dog for is important. protection, a playmate,
ask your friends and co workers who have dog to tell you about them it should help
or just take a chance and go to your local shelter and this is true a dog there will pick you lol i know but its true you will see if you try.
i have all blue heelers(australian cattle dogs) we get along great thats why i have three now 5 total over the years. won't ever change breeds. look online at pics of dogs then read up on them should help make a match also
good luck

There are so many good kinds of dogs. But try to get one that will fit into the area you live. Poodles and other small dogs are great for smaller areas Make good pets a watch dogs.. Then there are bigger dogs like shepards, collies etc. You just have to decide what kind fits your needs..You can go to a Human Society and fine good dogs. Happy Hunting Pem

All the dogs can be the best, or even the worse. It depends on the owner/trainer on how they train the dogs. Some dogs takes longer time to train their obedience while some dogs takes about two to three months to get all prepared.

A small dog, cuz their poops are smaller, you don't have to feed them large portions. Sometimes I feel that the vet charges you by the size of your dog..so the smaller the dog, I figure the smaller the vet bill. I also figure, you probably don't have to walk a small dog as far as a big one to get enough exercise. They are easy to carry. You can bath under the sink. I've only owned big dogs myself, but these are all the things I think about sometimes. However, I couldn't tell you what breed of small dogs to get. Just don't get the yappy ones that bark at everything.
