any one can tel me I want to have a American pit bull terrier is it a good breed?

Research this by reading books on the breed. My dog is a cross between a english bull terrier/red nosed pit and an american staffordshire terrier. He is the greatest dog! HE WOULD GIVE HIS LIFE FOR MYSELF AND KIDS!!
They are very loving and VERY protective of their owner. They have tons of unconditional love - and tons of energy. And if you get one, (american or otherwise...) you wont be disappointed!
Become educated on these breeds as best you can - read books, talk with reputable breeders, go online and find clubs/groups you can join that own this breed - you can always email me for info and help (legal & other wise) too :[e-mail]
But please - make this decision on your own - do not be influenced by all the bad publicity out there or negative remarks from people; and ck your local animal control laws on ownership of this breed.

They are lovable, dopey and loyal. If you train them really well, they can be the best dog you've ever had. But, because of their trusting nature, in the hands of a malevolent or detached owner, they can be monsters.
Most stories you hear of violent pit bulls reflect directly on the crimes of the owner.
The pit bulls I've met are the sweetest dogs, especially the females. But they need training, and lots of it, to keep them from being destructive to your stuff, like shoes, and walls. Lol.
One particular pit bull I knew, was no-leash certified and if told to sit and stay, would do just that, for as long as necessary. He was an excellent dog, but it took a lot of work to get him there.

All breeds of dogs are good breeds. You just need to be a loving and caring owner who enforces rules with the dog early on (and not by violence, of course). You should also do some additional research on the breed to see what sort of activities they like/dislike, as well as habits that come along with the breed.

I stress that pitbulls, just like any other breed, are not violent creatures if they are raised by loving owners.

Pit Bulls are very dangeous. But like other dogs really it depends on how they are raised. I have seem some that make great dogs for children.. You can train puppies to be good or bad. Just like kids. But they will have a instink of bad blood running thru them, so best to really be causous. Depends also on their parents , on how they have been treated. Pem

pitts are good dogs as long as you pay a lot of attention to the breeding and you do A LOT of obedience training and socialization. and I'm just going to take a second here to rant about all you people who believe the stereotype of pitts. remember its only the problem dogs that get the publicity, look at how many pitts are bred each year with no problems. and hamsters are evil neurotic little creatures but somehow they still have a good reputation so whats up with that

trust me i own 4. you have to buy them when they are puppies. do not neglect them. any mistreatment of these dogs causes them to grow up aggressive. one of my four, the male, is kind of aggressive. i got him from a home where he witnessed dog fights when he was 5 months. when he saw my other dogs he played with them roughly. so get them yung and b very gentle. thats how i got the other 3 and now they are just bundles of sweetness. the male has a little aggression, but he is still sweet. i dont care if you dont choose me as best answer, but email me if you have a problem or question about your pit bull puppy if you get one.
