Wash of any ointment you have on it and get it back into running water (or ice water is a close second)... After you wake up tomorrow morning then you can put a burn ointment on it...
BTW ointments hold the heat into the burn and actually add problems unless the flesh is burned away in which silver based ointments are used to keep infection from getting a foothold...
Next time do not delay getting cold running water on a burn and don't pull it out of the water after a couple minutes... keep it in as long as practical... and once out of the water if the pain returns get it immediately back in the water for twice as long as the initial water cooldown...

The heat of the burn keeps damaging the skin next to it, so take an aspirin or Ibuprophen to bring down the actual heat of the skin. Try resting the hand in a bowl of cold water. Again, that cools the skin and stops further burns as well as helping the pain. If the pain is unbearable after you've tried everything you should go to the emergency room.
The good news is that if it hurts, the skin isn't too badly damaged. When there's no pain it means that the nerves have been burned.

To answer your last question first, there's not telling if it'll leave a scar. It might. You can use Vitamin E - containing creams to lessen that possibility.
Ask your doctor for a prescription for Silver sulfadiazine cream for burns. Keep a tub of it in your medicine chest and put it on burns. It really helps relieve the pain.
In general, no matter how superficial the burn, leave it under cool water for 15 minutes to remove all the heat, even the heat under the layers of skin. Do not put creams, lotions or Vaseline on your burn. Cover it with a clean, dry dressing. Seek medical care if the burn covers a large area or is deep.

leave a mark? how bad is the burn? if it is real bad you need to go to the doctor burns become infected rather easily.
As for what you can put on it directly believe it or not anbesol the tooth numbin agent will work good its a topical anasthetic that will deaden the nerves. solarcaine also works on burns. even burns that arent sun burns. Ice wont make it feel better it will make it worse. if you dip your hand in saltwater the initial pain will be intense but it will help in the long run.

definitely get the cream off! it's likely oil based, which will hold in the heat. don't put ice on it either - ice is too harsh for tender skin, you can get an ice burn on top of the other one. get a ziploc, put some ice and some water in it. if the burn is still too tender, put a wet cloth around the baggie. if it's severe, don't be a hero, go to the doctor & they can give you some silvadene so you don't get infected. you think a burn hurts? try an infected one.

if u burn a finger, automatically grab your earlobe with that finger. I promise you that u can feel the pain transfer from your finger into your earlobe and then it goes away.
