My bf brought home a dog he knew we couldn't take care of. Now it's sick and I think it might be dying from parvo. This could be the dog's last night (couldn't get a vet til morning). I want to make it comfortable. The question? Should I allow the dog to sleep with me? It's been vomitting the past couple of nights and while I don't want to be puked all over, I want to give it some comfort. What would you do?

To be honest, me and this dog have NOT been on good terms! I don't like anything that pees on the carpet, but my bf dumped it on me because he won't take care of it. We haven't been pals, but I still can't stand to see any animal suffer. Again, he's not even here tonight so it's up to me to care for it.

I'm not able to get to a vet also because I don't have a car. No one is coming for me til morning and I don't know anyone to ask. The person who's giving me a ride? I don't know them either! My bf set that up.

When I have a dying pup or dog, I put down a sleeping bag and stay with it...Dribble water on it tongue, just enough to make its tongue not stick to its mouth...sooth it when it cries... Keep it warm

sorry to hear about your dog. But your boyfriend shouldn't have brought home a dog with parvo. If you have other animals, who haven't had there shots, they can get sick also. Make sure you clean everything very thougly. This is contagious.

Should make the boyfriend sit up with the dog, since he is the one who brought it into the house. How big is the dog? If your sure it's his last night, try to make him as comfortable as possible. Get some blankets or old towels, and make the dog a nice bed, by your bed. Because if he is throwing up, you will be up all night cleaning. Something you don't care about, so you can throw them away. But are you sure it's his last night? If he makes it, and gets to the vets, it's going to cost you some money.

Why did the b/f bring home a sick dog anyways. Did he feel sorry for it? Don't you have an ER for dogs around where you live. We have a vet around here who is opened all night.

I hope everything turns out alright for you and your dog. Just try to make it as comfortable as you can, if you think it's his last night. You can stay up with him, and try to just give it some comfort messures. Like you would if a loved one was dying. Let us know what happens with you and your dog. Good luck, and try to have a good night.

I wouldn't allow it to sleep with you. Parvo is a very, very contagious virus so the dog should be kept in a contained area. I would make sure it had a comfortable bed with soft blankets, if it was me I would probably stay up with it.

If it's still with you in the morning, do get it into the vet. Like I said, parvo is a virus so really the best they can do is give it some fluids and try to help it pull through, since there isn't a medication that will stop it.

I most certainly would let him or her sleep with me. Pedialyte will help best with the dogs thirst and keep her hydrated so she doesn't suffer. Speak in soft comforting tones but not sad ones to keep her calm. Touch her but don't be rough in any way just pet her softly and comfort her. Please don't leave her alone, no dog should be left to die on her own. These animals are so important I can't help shedding tears to hear this. Make sure and get her to a vet in the morning if she's still with us. Thank you for caring for a dog that you don't even know.

Parvo, although extremely contagious, it should be made clear that humans can't get it. Only if you have other dogs (which I take it you don't) would you have to worry, and only if they hadn't had their shots.

I love all animals especially Dogs and I am so sorry to hear about your Dog. You don't have to put the Dog in bed with you but do not let the Dog be alone.

Please stay with the Dog and make the last moments as comfortable as you can.

Lay out some blankets for both of you and just stay near the Dog.

God will Thank You for the Good Deed later.

find a good, cosy place for the dog in some other room.Spread a heavy ,thick blanket underneath.Raise its head portion so that its vomit may not come out all over.Spray a good deo allover. If it is able to get some medicine orally try it. Sit besides it and pray to God to give its soul rest in heaven.

That's pretty sad to hear. Hope you can make it to the Vet first thing tomorrow.

For me, I'd make myself a comfy spot near him. If you don't want him to sleep with you on the bed, then, make him a nice bed beside your bed. This way, he knows you're there for him & he's not alone.

Try not to talk to him in a sad way as I think they will know something is wrong. Keep him calm & relax. Provide water nearby incase he needs some.

Good luck.

the best thing to do is get a bunch of balnkets and put it in the dogs favorite spot. Leave the dog alone, if you stick around and it is time for the dog to pass it won't. Usually dogs like to die alone, I have had three dogs in the past and none of them would pass around me or the family, they would wait until they were alone. hopes this helps.

I would stay up with it and take care of it for the night. If it really is his last night, I know that I wouldn't want to spend the night asleep, y'know?

I'm really sorry to hear about your dog. You have my best wishes.
