My aunt made them stop when she let them get to the door, then started saying, "Oh, good you're here. Come on in, I need to tell you all about the REAL Bible, and everything that you are doing wrong."
She then proceeded to throw her hands in the air and pray. "Lord, thank you for sending me these straying souls. Help me to put them on the path to you. . ." so on and so on. When she opened her eyes. . . they were backing out the drive way!! And they never returned.
My aunt's always been hilarious!!

Growing up we had the good fortune of living next door to a woman who was a JW and a sweet sort so she agreed to tell the local Kingdom Hall that she had already done our street with pamphlets. This way we never got our bell rung by Witnesses and she got her pamphleting credit. Apparently the Mormons and the Witnesses also had an informal agreement on turf because the Mormons never worked our neighborhood and a friend of mine who lived up the street from a Mormon family never got Witnesses on his doorstep.
In later life, however, we moved out of the demilitarized zones into combat territory. I usually got rid of them by answering the door and introducing myself as having a regularly practiced faith; if that did not get them lost I would then ask them if they would like to visit my church/synagogue/mosque/sweat lodge. My brother was a bit darker. He and his wife had put a mezzuzah and a Star of David on their door and were amazed that Southern Christians, who technically worship a Jew, were unable to recognize articles of practicing Judaism. So he started answering the door to all proselytizers with a blank stare and a request that they come back in a few hours "when the cat skins are done tanning." Eventually he got put on Jesus's Do Not Call List.

NO, whatever you do we will keep coming back. Unless you get put on a list but I'm not going to tell you about that list because you should listen to what we have to say. There is no repellent, we aren't animals. And yes we are Christian you would know that if you answered the door and talked to us. So stop hiding, come on out, talk to us, we won't bite :)

I use the truth. I'm a Buddhist. They smile, thank me and move on. Mormons do the same - my downstairs neighbours were Mormon missionaries. They were always polite, but they never tried to convert me after I told them.
Buddhism is the "I'm okay, you're okay" religion - i.e., any religious views or philosophies you hold are just fine. Everyone finds their own path; just don't cause any harm to any other person along the way.
How do you convert someone with such an open minded philosophy? You don't even try.

I would put a sign on the door that says "I'm already a Jehovah's witness, thanks for sharing your faith!" Or do what my friend's grandfather did. Mormons came to the door and left some literature, and the next week the Jehovah's Witnesses came to the door. When they asked my friend's grandfather if he would read their literature, he told them yes, but only if they would read his, and gave them the stuff the Mormons had given him. I would make up some brochures about your beliefs and trade with the Jehovah's Witnesses. Bets are they won't come back right away.

If you specifically ask, Jehovah's Witnesses can put you on their "Do Not Visit" list. Clearly displayed "No Trespassing" signs are also effective deterrents.
Trinitarians repeatedly pretend that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christian. Trinitarians use an artificial, trinity-specific definition of the term "Christian" which excludes anyone who does not believe that Jesus is God Himself, rather than the Son of God. Interestingly, pagans in the first century pretended that Christ's followers were Atheists(!) because the Christians had a somewhat different idea from the pagans about the nature of God.
Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.
The Trinitarian arguments are intended to insult and demean Jehovah's Witnesses, rather than to give a Scripturally accurate understanding of the term "Christian".
In fact, the bible most closely associates being "Christian" with preaching about Christ and Christ's teachings. Review all the times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"
(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.
(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”
(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name
So why do anti-Witnesses try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications? Because anti-Witnesses recognize that it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

Put peanut butter on your doorbell. Or just don't answer the door. Definitely put up a "no religious soliciting" sign. My friend keeps her collection of antique and ceremonial swords mounted right in front of the door, so they see it when she answers lol.
If you want to play hardball, get the next one's name (write it down in front of them), tell them that you consider this trespassing and harassment and to pass the word to their fellow churchmembers that if you see any more of them you're calling the cops and filing charges.
Re; the 2nd part of your question, most people consider them a cult loosely based upon Christianity.

Just connect the 120 AC voltage line up to the door bell and put a metal plate hooked up to ground on your doorstep. They won't ring it a second time!
Just kidding, just kidding!
Just tell them that you already go to church and ask them if they would like to come and visit your church with you. That's what I do. I don't argue with them. I tell them that if they will go to my church with me then I'll go and visit their church with them. I've never gotten any takers, they just go away making polite excuses about why they would "rather not" or stuff like that.
As to your note, if you really want to have some fun arguing with them ask them to show you where in the Bible it actually says that Jesus is the arch angel Michael. When they try to point to a passage just keep saying "Well, that doesn't SAY that Jesus is the arch angel Michael. Where does it actually come out and say that?"

I heard once from someone who was once a Jehovah, He said that they send people to your door that fit the "profile" that you might like, for example, they would send a young, attractive woman to the door of a middle aged man. Repellents, I tell them I am super busy and don't have time to talk, and I tell them to come back later. I make sure I tell them a time my husband is home, and I am far away.....seems to work, I have not talked to a Jehovah in 3 years!!!

Hate to tell you this, but you cant scare Jehovahs people away. If you want to look like a dork and stand naked in your door way they will still come back. If you unplug your doorbell they will knock. If you act like a moron and cast spells they will talk around you. They are there for a purpose and out of Love for their neighbor. why dont you stop whimping out and listen and see what they want. I dont see any of you yahoos doing anything with your lives but making fun of people. If there was more Jehovahs witnesses in the world we wouldnt haft to worry about much of anything. They are doing what was asked of them, what are you doing to prove your faith?

To start, they are not 'Christians' as their doctrine differs slightly.
As for the door, many people are 'allowed' to knock on your entrance, but you do not 'need' to spend copious amounts of time with them. Also, there is no 'need' to be forceful or insulting to them. They simply have values placed in different belief systems than you. Provided they are not infringing on your personal safety or violating the laws in your area, it is easy to ask them to leave and this can even be done politely (try to keep your temper)... Good luck!
(A suggestion: a sign stating No Soliciting, if you are in need of very low traffic to your door)
