if I have vonage can my phone conversations be picked up on a police scanner if I'm talking on a cordless? like a regular phone line can.

The simple answer is "YES". For a number of years I was the east coast warranty service center for Cobra brand (and several other) cordless phones. The whole idea was the fact that it is a duplex radio system. The base sends a signal to the hand set on one frequency as the hand set communicates with the base on another. Thus, a simple short wave radio can tune those frequencies, and since it is a duplex system, you can hear both sides of the conversation, no mater which frequency one tunes to. There are federal ( and international ) laws against disseminating any information from a cell or cordless phone conversation, but the air waves are free, so if one has the equipment to "listen in" they have every right to do so.

Yes I beleive it can because it has nothing to do with the connection, it has to do with the fact that cordless phone use radio waves to transmit an recieve sounds. So logically, if you're using a cordless phone, it can be picked up by a scanner using the smae frequency.

Oh, and forget about that other guy, he's an Idiot. Someone will probably report him.

I used to pickup baby monitors and cordless phones on my six meter radio
