WHAT JESUS SAID ABOUT DEATH
Jesus Christ spoke about the condition of the dead. He did so with regard to Lazarus, a man whom he knew well and who had died. Jesus told his disciples: “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest.” The disciples thought that Jesus meant that Lazarus was resting in sleep, recovering from an illness. They were wrong. Jesus explained: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14) Notice that Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. Lazarus was neither in heaven nor in a burning hell. He was not meeting angels or ancestors. Lazarus was not being reborn as another human. He was at rest in death, as though in a deep sleep without dreams. Other scriptures also compare death to sleep. For example, when the disciple Stephen was stoned to death, the Bible says that he “fell asleep.” (Acts 7:60) Similarly, the apostle Paul wrote about some in his day who had “fallen asleep” in death.—1 Corinthians 15:6.
The Bible teaches that the dead “are conscious of nothing at all.” They are not alive and have no conscious existence anywhere. The account of Lazarus confirms this. Upon returning to life, did Lazarus thrill people with descriptions of heaven? Or did he terrify them with horrible tales about a burning hell? No. The Bible contains no such words from Lazarus. During the four days that he was dead, he had been “conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Lazarus had simply been sleeping in death.—John 11:11.
The account of Lazarus also teaches us that the resurrection is a reality, not a mere myth. Jesus raised Lazarus in front of a crowd of eyewitnesses. Even the religious leaders, who hated Jesus, did not deny this miracle.
Think about this too: If Lazarus had been in heaven for those four days, would he not have said something about it?— And if he had been in heaven, would Jesus have made him come back to earth from that wonderful place?— Of course not!
Yet, many people say that we have a soul, and they say that the soul lives on after the body dies. They say that Lazarus’ soul was alive somewhere. But the Bible does not say that. It says that God made the first man Adam “a living soul.” Gen. 2:7, Adam was a soul. The Bible also says that when Adam sinned, he died. He became a “dead soul,” and he returned to the dust from which he had been made. The Bible also says that all Adam’s offspring inherited sin and death too.
The Scriptural teaching of the resurrection, however, is not compatible with the doctrine of the immortality of the soul. If an immortal soul survived death, no one would need to be resurrected, or brought back to life. Indeed, Martha expressed no thought about an immortal soul that was living on elsewhere after death. She did not believe that Lazarus had already gone to some spirit realm to continue his existence. On the contrary, she showed her faith in God’s purpose to reverse the effects of death. She said: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” (John 11:23, 24) Likewise, Lazarus himself related no experiences of some afterlife. There was nothing to report.
Clearly, according to the Bible, the soul dies and the remedy for death is the resurrection. You enjoy the best sleep ever, until Jesus resurrects you, sometime in the future.

No death is not the end. (I'm a Gnostic Christian and our beliefs are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ). Death is only the end of the physical body's existance. Actually, I believe that we have all lived many many lives. Our soul has always existed and the soul's goal is to obtain a level of perfection close only to that of God himself. We pick different themes each time we come down here to live. Themes like Tolerance, humanitarian, Judicial, etc. there are 45 diff ones. Each time we pick a theme, we come down to earth (we consider earth hell, not some make believe fiery pit or lake ruled by some crazy pointed horned guy with a pitchfork and a red suit:)) If we survive this life and make all the right choices we can move on to mastering a new theme. If we screw up, we just keep starting the same theme/life over and over again until the lesson is learned. Ever notice that when a bad sit. arrises in your life, it never completely goes away until you deal with it exactly in the right way??? The problem will keep occuring until the right choice is made. Our sould resides 4" above our heads and guides/conducts us like puppets. Our souls are the essence of who we really are, not our physical forms. Anyway, when a person dies, I believe that the soul will hang around the body for a few moments and then their spirit guide(s), guardian angel(s) and a familiar loved one will meet us and cross us over to the other side. This other side is heaven. A wonderful place. That's a whole other story though. Death should be celebrated beacause we all get there eventually and see everyone again. The goal is just to survive this life the best we can and love one another.

NOT EXACTLY. Death is just the beginning of our endless life on the world of God Almighty. Death has been revealed in Holy Qur'an that THAT NO OTHER RELIGIOUS BOOKS EVER DID. It even has all details to a various punishment after death, depending on the works you've done here. The cruel punishment in 7 layers of Hell.
After our short lives here in the world, life there in other side has no death anymore.
It has also a details of Paradise that no men can ever imagine, the sweetiest milk, the honey, the wine, the Bidadari or beautiful girls in there (offer only to those Mujahideen who have died in battlefield). No more doing a livelihood coz everything you need (in Paradise) is just a split of seconds. no more death.
Ourlives here in the world is a great chance for us to do a good deeds and follow the teaching of Muhammad, all of His prophets, and the Qur'an. Man's life isn;t a meaningless, it's a meaningful indeed. As long as you do the five pillars of Islam and 6 pillars of eeeman, you will get a very meaningful life. we only live here in this world a very short time so until you are here, don't be trapped to all material things that a Saitan offered to you or else you will be sent to hell.
Just have to follow what has God command unto you and you will never been lost.

Death is the end of a person's life here on earth, but not the end of their existence.
It's Heaven or hell after death on this earth, believe it or not, but it's true. Believe in and love God and do His will to the best of your ability, and repent, and y'all be going to the better place.
And life can be useless if a person doesn't make the most of it. Instead of feeling sorry for themselves, people should be out there helping others in whatever way they can. If they did that then they will have made a difference, and their lives won't have been useless.
Anyway, as far as God's concerned, every person's life is meaningful. Otherwise He wouldn't have put y'all here now, would He! If a son loves he's father, then that's meaningful right! So if all a person does in his life is love God and live a life that shows he loves God, then that's very meaningful, especially to God, which is the most important thing!
Peace y'all.

Death is not the end. Because if there is someone who'll do justice to our deeds, then it is only God. And we see that many people in this world are suffering because of the oppression of some powerful injustice men. And people die being oppressed or suppressed. So there should be justice given to these kind of people and also to all other kinds of people who do good, and they are not truly recompensed in this life, and also to the people who do mischief in this life and they are let free.
So, our conscience says there should be someone, and there should be some day, on which everyone is paid in full according to what they did. And this is possible to be done only by God.
We read:
Every self will taste death. You will be paid your wages in full on the Day of Resurrection. Anyone who is distanced from the Fire and admitted to the Garden has triumphed. The life of the world is just the enjoyment of delusion. (Quran, Chapter 3:185).

The concept of death demarcates life but, viewed holistically, death loses its meaning. Both life and death possess a contradictory paradoxical immortality because life passes from organism to organism, system to system, mind to mind, without end. Death is like the blink of an eye, a change of scenery or a moment of forgetfulness. Life and death as opposites exist only in systems defined by space and time. Death Corresponds in Hebrew to the word fish, the symbol of christians and Jesus, the fisher of men. It is represented by the Single Letter Nun and possesses the number value 50 or 700 as a final character, in English it translates to the letter N.

The Bible shows that death is not the end. Many will be given a chance to do what is right who never had a chance because of their life circumstances.

That is a yes and a no answer. Yes you my die but you still have a spirit that can wander around. Plus, if you believe in re-en carnation then you will come back in another life but as a different person. I for one go ghost hunting and have known spirits who never leave the place where they have died. Sometimes they are stuck or they just don't want to leave for some reason.

Your reasoning to asking this question makes a lot of sense. If death really is the end, what is the point of living just to die? The link I just posted is to an article entitled: Does Death end it all? It gives the Bible's viewpoint on death. Why we die. What happens when we die. And what will happen to all the people that have died. I hope you enjoy this magazine. I am sure it will answer your question clearly.

It's how you look at it. It could be the beginning, a start of something new. Life can never be meaningless if you live a full one. We have the capacity to live a meaningful life.
