I would like to know if anyone has suggestions for some really good and powerful self-help books that I could check out from my library. I'm a very anxious, worrisome, and sometimes depressed person and I can't afford therapy right now. If there is some book that has truly changed your life-something you swear by-please let me know the title/author. Thanks!

My personal favorite is "No Free Lunch" by Rodney Carroll. Second is, "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" and "How Good do we Have to Be?" both by Rabbi Harold Kushner.
I also like "How to Talk to Anyone" forgot the auther. "How to work a Room," and "Winning Office Politics." I also think you could benefit from "The Gift of Therapy," by Irvin Yalom.

The Bible is the best self-help book. It sounds like you can use some comfort and strength. You may want to read the Psalms first because the author, King David, was going through some very rough times when he wrote it. Then read the Gospels....start with Matthew and read Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.
