It's totally random...sort of. What you do is this: You sit down at a slot, or you sit where you can reach three machines, and you start feeding it or them. When the cocktail waitress comes by, be nice to her. Tip her if you order something from her. When the slot machine tech comes by--to make a payout or empty a machine or something--be very nice to him or her, but don't be a kiss-***. Stay at your machines for a while and get to know the casino workers assigned to your area. Talk to them about interesting stuff--but don't be obvious and fawning. Be patient. Play your slots, do your thing, take it easy. Eventually, if the waitress or the machine tech likes you, they'll tell you which machines are due for a big payout. Once they give you that info, give them a nice big tip, move your *** to one of the machines that is "pregnant" and ready to give birth to a whole bunch of change, and play that one. If it doesn't hit that night, go back to it tomorrow, after learning from the waitress or tech whether it hit after you left yesterday.
Apart from this, there are no strategies or techniques. It's totally random, as I said.

As already stated, the best way to not lose money on the slots is to not feed them. But you gotta take your chances and have a little fun right? The slots are rigged to pay out a certain percentage and of course, the house is always on the winning end of that. I'm not sure what type of slots you have in America but here in Australia, if you have a little win of say $5 then you get the chance to go 'double or nothing' on that win by choosing whether the next card is red (heart or diamond) or black (spade or club). This 'double or nothing' feature is actually the best odds you will get in the entire casino. The odds are 50/50, even though it doesnt seem like it at times. Other games like roulette where you choose red or black is actually not 50/50 odds because there are a couple green slots which tips the odds slightly in favour of the house. There are no tricks to winning at slots. The best advice I can give you if you are gonna play slots is to get a comp card, so you at least get some comps for food or hotel rooms.
You could also play video poker which you have more control over the game. I've heard in general that the penny and nickel slots are the tightest, so try and play the highest increment you can with Max coins in...so if you DO win, you'll hit a jackpot.

Put your money in, and depending on the machine, push the button or pull the handle.
I usually play the "penny slots" (you can choose to use either pennies, nickels, or dimes)
My fave machines allow to bet on 9 line techniques and up to 20 credits per line. Usually you will not make all that much unless you "max bet" which for me is $1.80 per turn....this can get quite expensive, so I switch back and forth from betting $0.45 to $1.80; I'll put in a $20 and play on that until I'm up over $80, or cash out at $5 and move to another machine. When I'm above $80, I'll cash out (it prints me a ticket) and I'll put in another $20. I'll save my tickets until right before I leave so I usually walk out with bank! I hardly go though, It's 3 hours away and I don't always win.

Two things:
Always keep your comp card in the machine. (Get all the free stuff you can)
Always bet the max (There's nothing worse than betting one coin on a 3-coin machine, hitting the progressive, and realizing that you only won $10,000 instead of $1,500,000.)

walk around to see which rows of machines are paying...then play in that row...but pick the machine that is one over from the one that is paying....you might have to wait till the winning machine starts taking it back before yours begins paying but chances are yours will hit too. I believe different machines pay at different times....although random...you have to search for the "random pattern" for that day. ....it's not perfect but it has given me better odds than blindly picking any machine to play... then get out fast!!!!!

the trick is to insert a coin hit it on the back ot the machine and the pull the lever twice the say chra chra believe me it works im not kidding it really works
