smaller dogs breath can be bad due to having such a small mouth, try doggie tooth paste a few times a week. Make sure you feed him/her some dry food as well to aide in removing plaque from the teeth. It could also be a medical reason for this, sometimes a dogs anal glads can make the breath smell (sounds gross I know, but there are 2 sacs inside of the anus that get filled with fluid and need to be espressed by a vet) Try the toothpaste first and if that doesnt work, take him/her to the vet. Never use human toothpaste or mouthwash...it can be harmful.

Look at his teeth. Many of the toy breeds have dental problems that can cause bad breath.
I have a pet theory that I've never been able to prove. I wonder if the pH level of the saliva contributes to the problem. You can have two dogs, even littermates, living in the same home, eating the same food, and one can have terrible breath and the other's breath is fine.

The first thing you should check is for retained baby teeth, they can cause bad breath.
Make sure you are feeding a good quality food that has more meat than grains.
Giardia in the gut can also cause bad breath (it is easily treated). A 3 day treatment with fenbendazole wormer will clear it.

Puppies usually have skunky-smelling breath for a few months, it's normal. Other than that, make sure it's teeth are clean and healthy, at 6 months there shouldn't be time for decay.

Check her mouth and see if she still has her baby canines and her adult canines right in front of them. In small breed dogs, we often see retained baby teeth. Often times, food, hair and other stuff gets in between those teeth and can cause problems.
We usually remove them when we spay or neuter the dog.

people always think dogs are unsanitary but it's a proven fact that they're cleaner than us (dogs are people too and sometimes better!!!!!!!!) dog breath is naturally good, but just like us you actually have to brush your dog's teeth everyday, sorry people but it comes with the responsibility.

bad breath can be sign of dental disease - although I don't think i've heard of it in a dog so young. brush his teeth, tell him to stop licking his a.s.s and if it doesn't go away he could need a dental
