This is hard to answer with no given age, but eventually of course.My son never liked pacifers, but I can imagine it would be a hard habit to break. In the end it will be worth it.

Pacifier is easier than thumb to break, even if thumb is more convenient available.
I think in a baby under a year, unless pacifier is inhibiting growth by distracting the baby from sucking, I don't know why you would.
Be sure they aren't a choking hazard, though.

I found it necessary to "break" the pacifier habit when my kids started losing it at night, then woke me up crying when they couldn't find it. I decided that was the time to take it away for good. Both of them just cried a couple nights, then that was it.

Yes, the pacifier is alright when the are infants but, as they get older and develop teeth it can be bad for their teeth.

I think you should. You dont want your kid walking around with it when they are older. It also causes their teeth to come in crooked! It also effects their speech.
