As far as difference in ages...it does not matter. It is when you can afford to have a second child. It costs approx 170460.00 to raise a child to the age of 18. Can you afford it? Also you can check out the below chart to help you figure out what it will cost you. So you can take that figure and multiply it by 2. Some people will say it doesnt take much more but it does. They eat, use electricity, etc just like the first did. You may also have to consider larger housing.
Also something to keep in mind....is your relationship with your husband strong. Even the strong relationships get divorced. Can you support both children on your own in case you get divorced? Never rely on child support.....use it for the extra things you will need if you even receive it. Can you support them if your husband dies?
There are a lot of things to consider over age when deciding on more children!!!!

My kids are 13, 7 and 4. After every child I said "This is it, I'm done, No more babies" that why they are so far apart but if I had known from the begining I was going to have 3, they would be 13, 12 and 10! I say close together is better.

That is up to the couple. We have had them all at different times. I had one and the next one came when the first was almost 11 years old. The next one came before the second one was a year old. The smallest one came two years after the third one. There are benefits and cons to all of them. You just have to weigh them out and see what would be best for you and your family. I liked having the two so close together because they are so close and they can play together. They have that kind of twin thing going on. However, because they are so close in age, neither one is big on sharing at the same time. They fight about things every day. I like that I have an older one too because she helps a lot but she has special time with us at night after the small ones are in bed. I also like the having one two years apart because the two youngest ones have so much fun together and the third one feels like he can teach his younger brother so much. So it really depends on how the family feels as to when you should have another.

It would be best to have teh second baby atleast 3 years after but not more than 5 years after having the first baby. 3 years time will make the first child grow up to an age where she starts understanding everything. If the difference is more than 5 years, we forget the basics of baby care and may find it difficult to take care of the baby.

my boys are 13 months apart, and i am thrilled. They are 1.5 and 2.5 and they are best friends. They are great for each other. Now it has been very very busy..... but rewarding and i wouldnt do it any other way. I am pregnant with #3. So I will have a NB, a 2yr old and a 3 yr old. It works for me!!! I think close is good!!! dont worry about $$$$ it doesnt cost much more to have #2. I think parents always find a way to provide for their families... i hate when peopel put the BIG$$$$ on family....family is priceless!!! a response to "tryingthis2"... having them close, they are used to the other crying and it never wakes the other up...NOT AN ISSUE...as for clingy...when they are close, they dont need mommy so much, thay have each other

doctors would say that 3 years is the best gap for having children. 3 years is enough for your body to fully recover from the your first pregnancy.
however, try to consider your financials too and your readiness to have another. Ask your first child as well if he is ready to have a sibling. Prepare him emotionaly coz another baby in the house might be considered as a threat to him.

If you want your children close; about 2-3 years after your first child.

Personally and from experience at the most two years between. make good friends to grow up with. Larger gap means the older ones substitute parent. Wish you all the very best whatever your decision, savour the family life you have all goes too quick. Best wishes

They say that for your body, it isn't such a shock if you have a baby from the 18th month to the 5th year after having your first child. But you also have to take other things into consideration, like money, your marital situation and stuff like that.
