i think you mean citizenship as in "working together, making your country a better place" etc... if that is the case i think being a good citizen requires hard work... sitting on your couch watching tv all day and not doing anything else is not GOOD CITIZENSHIP it is being lazy!! being a good citizen can be anything from working to community awareness on important issues in your country... etc.

I think being an American citizen is a great blessing. As we all know, there are many people from all over the world who consider it a great fortune and privilege to be given a chance to be a U.S. citizen. Some have even gone to the extent of selling everything they have just to be able to enter U.S. and eventually become a permanent part of it. The reason God specially blessed America is because this is where freedom dwells and that sovereignty resides primarily in the people of the United States of America.

Loyalty to the country(and for me that means to what it originally stood for, not what is being done in today's society), someone who cares about his fellow man, someone who upholds the freedom of religion (irregardless of what their religion is), Someone who is willing to learn the language(which is officially English) and not try to change the country to speak another language.
Then there's my "sometimes thought of in a comical way" citizenship "should be's"
1- Love apple pie
2- Always vote Republican 9even when the guy running is a total jerk)
3- Love baseball,
4- Become a Mason or at least suppor their causes
5- Believe in Free Enterprise
6- Rock n Roll

America citizenship is made either by being born in any of the United States, or gained LEGALLY by proper appication for and passing the criteria set for "naturalized" U.S. citizen ship; where you're born in another country, but are LEGAL to reside in the U.S.

Years of residency in U.S. by sneaking across borders is NOT LEGAL U.S. citizenship.

I believe citizenship should be granted to people who are born here (naturalized) and those who come here legally. Anyone who came here ill-legally regardless of the reason should not be granted citizenship.

Citizenship is not a feeling. It's something you need to do legally. Freedom is the best feeling!

A citizen has the courage to make the safety of the human race their personal responsibility!

There's no "feeling" to it. If you're neither a natural born nor a naturalized citizen, you're not a citizen, at all. Very simple.
