Well I had to raise three orphan kittens and I was told that i should put alittle bit of butter under their paws to teach them how to groom themselves cause the butter will call their attention and they would start licking themselves since they don't have a mother to teach them. They told me it will also make them more calm kittens. Idon't know if it was true but they loved it

A little bit of butter would be about the tip of your thumb's worth. It can also help with hairballs. It won't make their coat healthy per se if they are eating a balanced cat food, it will just make it look and feel prettier. If you want to give your cat butter only do it 2-3 times a week. Giving it butter too often will make it have health problems.

My cat Tiger LOVES low-fat yogurt! And he has the softest, shiniest coat you could ever imagine! He's never gotten sick from it either. I would think a little bit of butter certainly couldn't hurt, unless your cat is especially sensitive.

I wouldn't give a cat butter - try 3v caps, or any fish oil caps. They are good for the skin and can provide shiny coats.
