This following statement is from the "Reasoning from the Scriptures" book published by Jehovah's witnesses. It is only a part of an explanation in response to people who believe that they are false prophets.

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets. They have made mistakes. Like the apostles of Jesus Christ, they have at times had some wrong expectations.—Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6.

The Scriptures provide time elements related to Christ’s presence, and Jehovah’s Witnesses have studied these with keen interest. (Luke 21:24; Dan. 4:10-17) Jesus also described a many-featured sign that would tie in with the fulfillment of time prophecies to identify the generation that would live to see the end of Satan’s wicked system of things. (Luke 21:7-36) Jehovah’s Witnesses have pointed to evidence in fulfillment of this sign.

(continued) It is true that the Witnesses have made mistakes in their understanding of what would occur at the end of certain time periods, but they have not made the mistake of losing faith or ceasing to be watchful as to fulfillment of Jehovah’s purposes. They have continued to keep to the fore in their thinking the counsel given by Jesus: “Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”—Matt. 24:42.

Matters on which corrections of viewpoint have been needed have been relatively minor when compared with the vital Bible truths that they have discerned and publicized. Among these are the following: Jehovah is the only true God. Jesus Christ is not part of a Trinitarian godhead but is the only-begotten Son of God. Redemption from sin is possible only through faith in Christ’s ransom sacrifice. The holy spirit is not a person but is Jehovah’s active force, and its fruitage must be evident in the lives of true worshipers.

(continued) The human soul is not immortal, as the ancient pagans claimed; it dies, and the hope for future life is in the resurrection. God’s permission of wickedness has been because of the issue of universal sovereignty. God’s Kingdom is the only hope for mankind. Since 1914 we have been living in the last days of the global wicked system of things. Only 144,000 faithful Christians will be kings and priests with Christ in heaven, whereas the rest of obedient mankind will receive eternal life on a paradise earth.Another factor to consider regarding the teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses is this: Have these truly uplifted people morally? Are those who adhere to these teachings outstanding in their communities because of their honesty? Is their family life beneficially influenced by applying these teachings? Jesus said that his disciples would be readily identified because of having love among themselves. (John 13:35) Is this quality outstanding among Jehovah’s Witnesses?

I believe God loves all His children and is pleased when He receives love back. no matter what religion or creed you are. I have my personal beliefs, however I also have Jehovah Witnesses in the family and I cannot say they are any happier than the rest of us. Look closely and we all have flaws. Believing in an interpretation or particular religion does not bring perfection.

To those who believe Jehovah's Witnesses are false prophets? LOOK at how many people in 2005 that does not believe your statement.

Last year 2005, 247,631, became Jehovah's Witnesses and everyone of these had to change their minds pertaining to the false teachings that they had been taught, these were people that used their own Bible, King James, etc., 28,384 were from the United States.

Let's take a "poll" and get the opinions (of people) by asking specific questions.

1. Were any of you ever a Jehovah's Witness?

2. Did you just decide to leave without a reason?

3. Was there a reason?

4. Were you disfellowshipped?

5. If you were disfellowshipped, for what reason?
Here are some reasons one can be removed from
the Congregation, please choose one or more.

Some of the offenses that could merit disfellowshipping from the Christian congregation are fornication, adultery, homosexuality, greed, extortion, thievery, lying, drunkenness, reviling, spiritism, murder, idolatry, apostasy, and the causing of divisions in the congregation.

6. Or is it just because you hate what we believe?

7. Why do you think, the prisons are full of so-called Christians, why is it that so-called Christians are the ones that "burn, spit, step on the "flag" and show disrespect not only to the flag but to the country they live in?

8. Is it because of people that could care less about
God's rules that are layed out in the Bible, you
people have 3 things on your brain, Catholics,
Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses.

9. Why don't you people wise up and start acting like a
Christian, isn't that what most of you claim to be?

Despite the lying slander of anti-Witness agitators, Jehovah's Witnesses have humbly taught that they are *NOT* infallible and *NOT* inspired by God; that's more than 125 years of such clear denials.

Jehovah's Witnesses apply the term "prophet" only in a very limited sense to themselves as a religion, not to individuals. The Scriptures indicate that whenever Jehovah purposes to execute judgment upon a people, he always makes arrangment for a 'prophet's work' as a warning. Their self-description as a "prophet" (in this limited sense) does not indicate special inspired knowledge or foreknowledge, but their willingness to perform Christ's assigned warning work.

What group is working harder than Jehovah's Witnesses to preach God's message globally?

(Amos 3:7) For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets.

(2 Peter 2:5) Noah, a preacher of righteousness...

(Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

I'm glad someone finally clarified this. When you think about it what's worse, making a few mistakes, fixing them and never doing them again, or make mistakes learn they are wrong and do nothing about them. Our organization is progressive we have been corrected but have these issues ever come up again? No! So obviously we learned our lesson with the help of Jehovah's holy spirit. What about Christendom? Their worship is full of error and false teaching and when you show them from their own Bible they still don't change. Which is worse? We humbly accept our corrections and we've never done it again. Now that's the organization I'm proud to be apart of :)

The human soul is not immortal, as the ancient pagans claimed; it dies, and the hope for future life is in the resurrection.

This claim alone shows that you do not go by the very bible you strive to explain.

Jesus, said point blank, to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord. He never for 144,000 to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord.

The 144,000 you speak of comes directly from revelations, and the people that are spoken of in this passage if you read about them are all male virgins and Chosen ones (Israelites) not gentiles as even the witnessess as yourself would have to agree that you are just that , gentiles allowed adoption through abrahams seed once you accept the free gift of Christs ultimate sacrifice for your sins.

Re read the bible, this is more than a simple misunderstanding, it goes to the very core of your belief system, and what you believe is wrong according to the very bible you claim to love and trust.

I think somebody knocked on my door? I'm a Quaker fellow travellor, and as such think there's that of God in every person. The JW's have certainly done a good job of pointing out a lot of what's actually in the Bible. That's important, but also important to realize is that the Holy Spirit leads us even after we've closed the Book.

False prophets... maybe.

False Christians... definitely.

JW's falsely teach that Jesus is really Michael the Archangel and not God but claim to be Christian.

Anyone who says "I'm a Christian but I deny Jesus is God" is not a Christian.

I am a Catholic Christian and I know that Jesus is God the Son.

Most non-Catholic Christians (Baptist, Lutheran, non-denoms, etc...) also know that Jesus is God the Son.

The Jewish people deny that Jesus is God. They believe Jesus existed and they follow the 10 commandments. Does that make them Christian??? Of course not.

JWs are false Christians.

I am so glad I believe in God's Word and have a relationship with Jesus. He never makes mistakes, so I will never have to worry about embarrassing my fellow believers by putting disclaimers up like you just did. I highly recommend you read the following verses in The Holy Bible, not the JW version.
John 14:6
1 John 2:22
John 14:1

Do they now accept that Jesus is God?

Do they now accept the Trinity?

Do they now accept that the Bible is the inspired word of God?

If yes to all 3 then they are not a cult(or false religion)
