First of all, if a child is annoying it helps to know what they are doing before even beginning to think ADD, let alone any diagnosis. I see all kinds of kinds who are diagnosed w/ ADD or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). They in turn become medicated (and some did not need to be), and they end up worse in the long run than they were. I would talk to a doctor or talk to someone at the child's school to see if the behaviors are taking place there. I say this because part of the diagnosis for either ADD or ADHD is that the behavior must occur in two seperate environments and (if I remember right) hinder academics in some way. Hope this helps.

My nephew lives with me and he has it, even with meds he is non-stop, he can go all day. If he stays up till 4am he would wake that day at 7am .He talks nonstop. He can never focused on anything so we do things one step at a time. He is not annoying just busy and for some reason very intelligent. He is never mean and is very loving, but others coment on how I can take it all day. At 9 yrs old I think it does not bother him when people judge him & I am not eager to explain why he is so active to everybody, because we do not care what others say. Would someone tell a blind man "you better see or you will get in trouble" the same with asking him to sit and be still. He has two playmates that are ADHD and you should see them together I think they could run the world. Ha!Ha! If your kid is not like this he most likely is not but, ask your doctor anyway.

Being annoying is not a sign of ADD. You have to look for a variety of other symptons before you start to worry. Speak with your child's teacher to see if there is any concerns in the classroom. Also realize that teachers ethically can't tell a parent that they believe their child has ADD or another learning disability (specifically). All they can do is tell you general concerns. If you find that the teacher has concerns, you may wish to open the door and ask him/her if they feel that your child should be tested. Also talk to your child's doctor for advice. Sometimes a child may have a simple hearing or vision problem that causes odd behaviour.

No. I f your child has lots of energy, has trouble foucasing on one thing, likes to climb , and can get emotional at one tiny thing and has trouble going to sleep. Those are some signs. Not being annoying, although some signs like hyperactivity and the like of climbing can be rather annoying. If your child had some of these symptoms I would take them to a doctor and tell the Doctor that you are worried about your child. The doctor will take a test on your child and maybe perscribe them a medication.

Most reasons why kids take it is to foucas on school work- not because their parent s find them annoying

ADD is really something you only see in brain damaged, retarded or crack babies. Most people who think a kid has ADD have never seen a real case of ADD (if they did, they would never make that mistake again). This includes most doctors. Teachers and other school officials actually have an evil agenda to hurt kids by misdiagnosing them with ADD. They are in no way qualified to have an opinion on such things and there are issues with marxists infiltrating our schools to abuse our children that no parent can afford to ignore.

If you suspect your kid has ADD, the correct professional to bring him to is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (some states use the term Licensed Developmental Psychologist) who has experience in neuropsychological assessment. They will test your kid for ADD and give you a definitive diagnosis and refer you to proper treatment.

He may just need some positive attention. If he is really bouncing off the walls constantly then have him evaluated by a child psychologist. Often kids are mis diagnosed as having ADD or ADHD. Sometimes they just are trying to figure out how to get attention or they may be confused about what you want from them.

There are two major types of ADD at this time (this aspect of ADD keeps evolving): ADD with hyperactivity (the traditional type of ADD) and ADD without hyperactivity ("inattentive" type). Here are the DSM IV diagnostic criteria in a condensed form:

Inattention (must meet six of the following to a degree that is "maladaptive"):

* Often fails to give close attention to details or makes mistakes in schoolwork;
* difficulty sustaining attention in tasks;
* seems not to listen;
* fails to follow instructions or finish work;
* unorganized;
* difficulties with schoolwork or homework;
* loses things like school assignments, books, tools, etc.;
* easily distracted;
* forgetful about daily activities.

ADD with Hyperactivity (must meet six of the following to a degree that is "maladaptive"):

* fidgety in a squirmy sense;
* doesn't stay seated;
* runs or climbs excessively (or feelings of restlessness in older children);
* difficulty playing quietly;
* often "on the go" or acts if "driven by a motor";
* often talks excessively;
* blurts out answers to questions;
* difficulty waiting in lines or waiting turns;
* often interrupts or intrudes on others.

ADD is WAY!!! over-diagnosed. I know that it does actually exist, but most people aren't content to let children be children. Let the child play outside, where they have the space to run off some of the energy and they will calm down when they are supposed to.
