Yes, Petsmart has expensive stuff. I like looking at the things there, but I don't buy them. I don't know about cats, but if you eat vitamins the tapeworms die and then you poop it out.

Petsmart (and PETCO too) stress variety and to a lesser extent convenience - NOT price! They charge extra for the same reason 7-11 charges $1.79 for a can of peas - because it costs them a lot to keep all that stuff on the shelf, and where else are you going to go? If you want cheaper go online, but be careful because there's shady people in any venue.
You probably won't see the worms or worm segments; praziquantel defeats the worm's resistance to digestion. The most you'll usually see is slightly softer stool for a day or two; under a microscope you might see worm fragments, especially the scolex (head).
If you know the cat had tapeworms, repeat in 3 weeks. Otherwise, a good deworming every 6 months is good practice.

Usually you will see the tape worms come out in the stool (look like white rice), you should deworm her again in 1 month and take a stool sample to your vet 1 month after the 2nd deworming to make sure she is free of tape worms. Also, keep her on a flea preventitive, use only Advantage or Frontline...don't ever use anything from a pet or grocery store...it has been proven to burn cats and even KILL them....they can not metabolize certain things properly. Tapeworms are tranmitted to you pet by an infected flea. Hope this helps!

With online items you usually have to pay shipping and make sure when you order that the stuff is not out dated and it takes time to get it to you!
Pet stores have more overhead cost then online stores do -
It also depends on when you want it on how much you are willing to pay for it. Do you want it now or do you want to wait for overnight shipping or a day or two before you get it?
For the tape worms I would call your vet and ask him.

online stuff is generally cheaper, because they add a whole lot of money with shipping and handling. i remember this collar i wanted for my dog. i cost a little a first, but when shipping and handling got added, it cost more than it would of cost to pick it up from the store. and i dont know when the worms get gone. call your vet.

BUYER BEWARE!!! Shop around, spend gas and time looking for cheaper price (Not taking sides) but it might be cheaper after all under those circumstances $3.24 a Gallon.
You should see a vet regularly for your buddies health ( you do have one? ) for their professional answers on deworming.

i don't know the answer to most of your question but i do know that petsmart will take anything back for any reason even if already opened and used, so if you have the receipt take it back to the store, tell them it didn't work, they shouldn't hasle you. the one here doesn't. its a fantastic return policy
