The GM units (Silverado or Sierra) are widely acclaimed as the best in the industry, though the Dodge Ram has some serious power. The Ford F series is the best selling vehicle in the world. That said, they all eat a lot fo as and that is a consideration. Go with the smallest truck that can tow what you need, allowing a 1000 pound buffer for safety. A Dodge Dakota Quad cab can tow about 7000 lbs, so it may be worth considering. Go smaller to save on fuel costs.

While working at the Chicago Auto Show this year [for Ford] I noticed a guy wearing a Honda sweater, hanging around the truck display.
I struck up a conversation with him. He also was a salesperson working at the show.
When I asked what he was doing at the Ford display, he replied "Everybody Knows that Truck is a for letter word........it is spelled...F O R D ....or ...F 1 5 0 "
Needless to say, I got a kick out of that!
I have a DVD that I would be happy to send to you. It's called "The Truth About Trucks" and it will show you all the comparisons between trucks..i.e. Honda-Chevy-Ford-Dodge-Toyota.

Well, my dad has a Chevy Silverado and most of the guys I've dated have a Silverado if they have a truck. It seems to be a really popular guy truck. One time I drove my dad's truck to a friend's house and her husband came out and looked at the truck appreciatively and said "nice truck!" By the way, my 16 year son is saving money from his job to buy himself a Silverado despite the high price of gas!

GMC Sierra half ton.. a 2500...you could get the same thing as a chevy, but for some reason the exact same truck with the GMC nameplate has higher re-sale value.
