I took karate a few years ago, but I stopped after awhile. I still have an interest in it though, and I stopped before I learned anything about staff fighting. so if anyone can tell me anything about learning it I would appreciate ur help.

do some research into karate-style bo techniques and kung fu staff techniques. I noticed that bo is held in the middle to have 2 striking ends but cutting reach in half (maybe 2 feet beyond the hand). KF staff can be held similarly or held at the last 3 feet of an end. Gives tremendous advantage in reach. Now stick a spear end at the end of a bo and a staff. The bo techniques don't translate too well into spear but KF techniques do. Bo techniques are very fast but short ranged relatively speaking but the end of a staff held towards one end travels really fast even though the movement of the practitioner is not so fast. Staff is flexible so even if blocked, it will flex around the block and still have the possibility of hitting the target.

For Jo technique, try reading early book by Dr Masaki Hatsumi (the ninja grandmaster). In his book Dr Masaki teaches general Jo technique. Lots of photos. I believe the book is also suitable for karate practioners. Title of the book? Sorry, I forgot.

Where are you located? I am in Olympia, WA, and would not mind at all teaching what I know on the staff. I teach Pentjak Silat staff techniques, with some Filipino lines thrown in as well.
