You can get tons of cars for that money! Look for cars that are 6-10 years old for sale at gas stations. Mechanics often fix up old cars and sell them for a tidy profit. Since they are mechanics, they know what they are doing. I bought an 86 VW Jetta from a guy like this and it ran like a dream. Unfortunately, it kept running like a dream into things, though that was my fault, not the cars. be prepared with about $500 of emergency cash in case something breaks as older cars will have wear issues. Pay careful attention to the coolant system, and be sure to have a mechanic you trust to fix it when things go wrong. Good luck!

You could get a "loaded" 1994-1998 Geo Prizm. Air bags, antilock brakes, stereo, A/C. The thing with a Geo is that it is a Toyota engine, and those things last forever. If you can find one in decent cosmetic shape, you really can't go wrong, unless the previous owner just drove it into the ground and tore up the engine.

I'm sure there are other similar cars in that year range--Toyota Corolla, maybe a Honda Civic. A Japanese car of that age, though, is a decent bet.

depending on the car. If you want a good car and im not talking about mercedes or something like that, you can get a 98-2001 probebly in chicago area. Right now I have a 2000 mercury mystique with 102,000 miles all power, runs really good and I'm asking 3,500 but am willing to sell it for about 3,200 maybe even 3,000. if your are interested my email is jovosasic@sbcglobal.net

Your local newspapers Classifieds are a good way to go. If you live in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada, you could try the Buy&Sell. I comes out every Thursday with some great deals and always has new stuff.

You can get a pretty good car for that in most areas. Start with ebay motors. Look foreign if you can, they tend to be sturdier as they age. I'd sy you could buy late 90's to very early 00's if you shop well.

Of course you can! $3K is a good down payment, you can get a great deal on most vehicles from 2004 and up. And if you have a good credit score, you will get an even better deal with low monthly payments.

go to autotrader.com and search for a car in your area with a maximum price of 3000. Then check the price on kbb.com to make sure it is a good price.

Sure you can...

In Australia it wouldn't buy you a very new car, but you could get a tough car like an RX7 or an old Ford...

Check out online car sales websites to get an idea...
Happy hunting!

I paid only $2,000.00 for my '98 Escort Wagon. It looks good and runs great! You can buy some really great cars under $3,000.00. I congratulate you on NOT borrowning money to buy a car. Be sure to save some extra money to pay for liscencing and insurance! Good Luck!

You can get a car - check online at vehix.com or in the local classifieds. I wouldn't think you would get a very new car, but it is worth researching further.
